Lavinia finished her coffee, setting the empty cup on the table and looking around the bar. She blinked, her mind racing, as she examined each and every person in the bar with a small grin.
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
Kane tried his hardest to contain his chuckling as he saw Lavinia looking around the bar, buzzed with the magic of caffeine. He swallowed and inhaled deeply. The laughter faded a bit, but he found it extremely funny for some odd reason. First alcohol and now caffeine, he thought to himself. What the hell am I doing to this poor girl?
He looked at the bar and someone caught his eye. He kissed Lavinia on the cheek lightly and said, "I'll be right back. There's someone I have to go talk to."
He stood up and made his way over to the bar before speaking.
... X was about to sip out of the bottle of mysterious liquid, his eyes turning to Kane, the bottle suspended in front of his mouth. He grunted slightly, finally taking a quick drink and adjusting his head toward the man, under normal circumstances, X would have done him in, but it simply wasn't an option. He spoke with a hint of scorn on his voice, "Make it quick."
Kane's eyes widened, almost fearfully. He relaxed and sat down at a barstool.
"Look, man," he said, "I'm really sorry for all this... kafuffle. I'm a frakkin' idiot, I know. But I just want to let you know that whatever happens, I hope you're not going to hunt me down and kill me or... whatever else you can think of..."
He bit his lower lip, then extended his arm for a handshake.
Lavinia didn't particularly notice Kane, the kiss and his words becoming part of the constant buzz around her. She scanned the bar, her gaze darting quickly from X to Kane to Chris, occasionally noticing and examining some other random point of the bar. She looked down at her hands, noticing they were shaking slightly. Hmmm...thats probably not normal...maybe I should ask-waitwhatsthat...

X only sneered, turning his head away from Kane, taking another drink, his right inner talon clicking against the steel floor, making a 'ting' kind of sound.
Lavinia heard the "ting" of X's claw, and her gaze darted towards the source of the sound. She noticed Kane backing away, and tilted her head at him, staring at him to the point where he sat beside her again. "Have you ever noticed that X doesn't seem to like you?" She said, seemingly oblivious to the occurances between the two.

Kane turned to Lavinia. "Yeah, I believe that you're right," he said, sighing. "Must be some real bad blood going on, you know? I must have done something to piss him off a lot."
Lavinia nodded absently, examining a patch of rust near a corner of the roof. Even though she didn't really know what Kane was talking about, she was too far-gone to stay focused for long enough, already lost in the storm of subjects running through her mind every moment.
