Ermmmmm.. What is going on with the server? Alot of lag and chat delay happening lately. Any info about what is happening?
Is it just scheduled Cleansing?
At least it's not so bad for mining. The small roids appear to be rendered clientside, and even when a lagpulse stops resources from spawning temporarily, they suddenly pop up when the lagpulse ends. Only annoying bit is when you lag out if the server dies... you lose cargo.
But yea, I think the server is experiencing massive packetloss, either at the inbound or outbound streams. Freelancer, like most games, uses UDP connections which are very susceptible to packetloss. Might want to add a "ping -t > c:\pingtest.txt" for a day or so to see if the connection from server to net is dropping from time to time, or it's just the server itself being odd.

The intermittent lag we have been seeing the last couple of days, is an issue that is under investigation. It started a couple of days ago, without us having done any changes on the server setup. The server has run with the same versions of the various hooks and plugins we use, for the last month and a half and quite stable so - except from the external DDoS attack there has been a 98.9% uptime on the gameserver.
We are investigating a couple of possible culprits, but as allways, with intermittent suddenly appearing issues, they take some time to figure out.
@ Spazzydragon - With the server down, we have no way of diagnosing and investigating the issue. And since the issue is intermittent, it would not make any sense to force a 100 % downtime, and at the same time take away the possibility of investigating the issue when it appears.
@ Collateral - See above.
@ MauriceH - Can you make a screenshot of that message, and upload it to a picture host, so we can see it ?
i have a weird issue that only effects me. Ill be flying along and boom im kicked.
All others in my group are fine just i get kicked, this has never happened before and my connection
to the net is very very very good, any ideas ??
Edit : this has been happening for just on a week now.

Character names please - Server maintains a log over all kicks initiated by plugins or manually. If you do not appear there, it might or might not be related to the lagging issue mentioned above, or something your end either locally or at your ISP.
But PM me the character names, and approximate date and times, and I'll check.
I don't know if this is one hundred percent correct, but I believe someone mentioned there's a low-power Solar Storm going on right now. I'd imagine it would affect satellites and maybe wireless and internet. I'm no expert of course, and I'm not 100% sure if this is true, but it may be worth looking into.
It may be it cause for example same problems were for example with Xfire - and it started nearly the same time as the problems with the server here so maybe this is the true problem not the server...even if it sounds a little ... wild:)

* ArmsAndLegs Guy puts in call to stockbroker : Buy stocks in companies manufacturing sun block cremes. And companies manufacturing industrial strength tin foil.
Seriously, I doubt that sunspot activity has anything to do with it, unless you are sitting on a sat connection, or the International Space Station.
It defintely doesn't impair any WiFi link, nor 3G or WiMAXX links. If the sun spot activity had enough power to interfere with those links, we'd all be burned to a crisp cinder allready.
