but why are we dicussing this? all people on the forum are not going to live enough to see it (exept for me:D)
Meh, no harm trying. You never know, I might just revolutionize the world of physics when I grow up. Imagine having antimatter as an energy source. A piece the size of a penny could power a rocket to mars and back. Then again, I could make fusion work, that'd be more efficient. Or put a cat on treadmill with a string hanging in front of it. Hook up a generator and BAM, infinite energy.
The term "super-nova" refers to a star exploding. And since stars aren't anti-matter reactions, there fusion reactions.
Leave the Battle/mini Razors "Tachyon-Antimatter Cannons", But Instead of having the SNAC another "anti-matter" weapon, make it and Mortars "fusion cannons". our sun uses Hydrogen and Helium in it's self sustaining fusion reaction. Freelancer ships use H-fuel in their propulsion systems, and since "H-Fuel" is comprised of the same elements it could theoretically be used in fusion weapons.
how said "fusion cannon" would work
A ship diverts some of it's H-fuel supply into the magnetically shielded firing chamber, where it is electrically excited into a plasma state. At the moment of firing, an intense graviton pulse both initiates fusion and propels the now small sun toward it's target.
infocard re-writes wouldn't be that hard, Mortar infocards would just need to replace "antimatter" with "fusion"...DONE
The supernova's infocard re-write would need a little more, but keep the SNAC acronym.

This weapon is pretty straight forward, take an already big gun, add a graviton generator with high-powered capacitors, excite some H-fuel to near critical, and then fire. While the idea is simple, the result is not. A massive drain on the power-plant, for a massive effect. At the moment of firing, the intense graviton pulse both initiates fusion and propels the now small sun toward it's target. it may not travel fast, but when it hits it's devastating. This weapon sacrifices efficiency, speed and refire to get the most massive damage in one shot available to bombers. It is built by many private weapon labs across Sirius, although even the latest version is always expensive and difficult to use.
While I like your thinking, I don't quite approve of it, for a few reasons.
First off, you called it a small star. No such thing. The definition of a star is something big enough that its gravity causes nuclear fusion. A small star, while you could theoretically compress it enough for fusion, would break up the moment the pressure is released.
When they coined the term 'Super Nova' for the gun, it was meant to sound cool, nothing more.
Second, I believe H-fuel is not used in fusion. It is simply burned, like gasoline. The concept has already been put to use, I'm pretty sure the NASA space shuttles use H-fuel.

First of all: RAEG
Second of all, dark matter is just matter, but invisible. I dunno how, I need to research a bit more on that. I know it has a gravitational field, that's how you find it. Also, raeg.
