So, just to be clear, what's yer point? You saying that since we are all inter-related, it's pointless to demonize one religion over another just because it's an election year, yeah? In other words, the only difference 'tween any religion is just superficial at best & that when a person tries to discriminate someone's religiosity, it really has to do with ignorance & politics & nothing to do with who's god can pwn the other, yeah?
Tell that to the neo-con pundits & let's all get past this childish anti-muslim crap on the whole...the more we bitch about this ignorant crap, the more people outside the US are justified in thinking of us as stupid on the whole.
Better yet, just do your best to try & keep people from getting sucked into to the propaganda:P

That back poster - Islam=Terrorism, Hatred, and Violence.... I don't see any comments in the first picture about, Love those who Mock Islam or Give Flowers to those who insult Islam.
Instead, I see Butcher and Behead and Kill.
South Park is parody and satire television. They regularly have Jesus on there as a character. I haven't heard any comments about death threats to the creators of that show because of that. Oh, but we'll put Mohammad on there and lo....
Just because we can be tolerant, SHOULD we be tolerant, when the message really is NOT all about peace and togetherness and love? I'm not saying that our history, going back to the times of the Templars is exemplary. Hell, I just recently discovered some things that clearly point out how Roosevelt - Theodore, not Franklin - was a direct cause of World War Two in the Pacific. I'm just looking at things that go back to within my lifespan.
Are the hands of America clean? No. We have our own home-grown idiots, too. But we put Timmy to death for his crimes. Time to do the same for those who tried in '93, and that keep trying to do so today. The recidivism rate is zero when you're looking at the roots, not at the blades of grass.

I'm just going to refer back to my earlier post/posts in this thread: those who think this "mosque" (inverted commas intentional) is a bad idea go back and look.
I will reiterate again, Al Qaeda; most of whom are Wahhabi muslims, attacked America. The Sufi American muslims who wish to build a center 2 blocks away from ground Zero did not attack America.
Al Qaeda attacked America - Islam did not.
An interesting thing has happened in this conversation however, it has ceased more or less to be a discussion on "the mosque" (as most of the arguments against said "mosque" are ridiculous and based in ignorance or hypocrisy) and turned into some kind of broad attack in Islam or the United States (take your pick).
Both are foolish - The United states for all its flaws has much that is admirable.
Islam is a religion of 1.2 billion followers. If people want to make broad and largely ignorant sweeping statements belittling a 1400 year old faith then go ahead, live in ignorance and intolerance and i guess Bin Laden will get his wish of a "clash of civilizations" - The war on terror has to be fought with ideas, intellect and examples to follow - So far, only one side seems to have been fighting the "war" with their heads and with ideas, and it isnt ours.
As i already said earlier - finger pointing at other's intolerance as a means to justify your own is weak. Why use someone else's stupidity as the standard by which you set your own behavior, why not be better than that?
To use a fictional example: I watched Ridley Scotts "Kingdom of Heaven" the other night. The Balian character says to Salah Al-Din (Saladin) something along the lines of:
Balian: "The Christians butchered and murdered all the Muslims when they took this city until the streets ran red with blood."
Salah Al-Din: "I am not those men."
So Muslim crazies call for people to be be beheaded, that justifies the same ignorance by others? Is it now OK to condemn the "whole" for the actions of a few? Why do we not condemn all of Christianity for the actions of Christians? Those who murder in the name of christ, those who abuse their positions of power within churches and abuse children, those who blow up abortion clinics somehow believing that the "prince of peace" would ever condone violence in his name.
The hypocrisy here is obvious, its evident and in plain view. And wake up so called "nations of the free world"... there is a guy in a cave in Pakistan, who has so far played this whole thing a hell of a lot smarter than we have; who see's it too. The Taliban let out last week that this mosque issue has been a recruiting gold mine...
Wanna be better than them? Then be better than them.

#1 -- Don't read into what I said.
#2 -- I believe there is only one true God. Some accept him and some reject him.
#3 -- Those who have no belief in God tend to generalize and criticize and blame Christianity for all their woes while they give a pass to non-Christians.
#4 -- We are all related through Noah ... if you're a non-Christian and a non-Jew then you won't accept this to begin with since its based on the biblical record.
#5 -- It was not a Christian (or any anti-Muslim) who started this thread was it? Nope ... it was an anti-American ... one Zapp who has played his hand as an American hater. So go throw your darts at him for even bringing up the subject.
#6 -- Which category does your argument fall? I do hope your answer is not A or B.
-- A. argument out of spite
-- B. argument for the sake of argument
-- C. argument based on what you feel is right or wrong
Bottom line you're argument sounds a bit "hostile" ... maybe you'd rather digest what I wrote for a bit rather than do the "kill the Christian" routine so quickly ... yes?
Two types of people ... those that view life through a magnifying glass (always analyzing the details and never seeing what is plainly in front of their nose) and those who get the bigger picture. Which are you?

Actually, they were as well. Most of them suffer from ostrich syndrome. However a few are also over it.
There's a reason why Sarkozy has the support of some 67% of the French population on this topic right now - seems that the majority of the French people are also sick of this garbage as well.

' Wrote:I have a few words about the hoopla surrounding the mosque being constructed a few blocks from Ground Zero. These aforementioned words are aimed mainly at people too blind to invest any time in educating themselves as to the difference between Muslims and extremists. Really, it’s more than Muslims. There’s extremists in every culture. If we are to judge all of Islam on the actions of Al-Qaeda and other splinter terrorist and extremist organizations, then we are obligated to judge all of Christianity on the actions of Catholics during the Spanish Inquisition and, more recently, the Ku Klux Klan and Nazis.
“But there’s more to us!” you may object. And you are correct in doing so. Is it such a leap of logic, therefore, to realize that there is more to Islam than those dedicated to the “jihad”? Beyond that, is it so hard to realize that there is more to a group of people than the broad brushstrokes we mentally paint them with?
Islam isn’t your enemy. The only enemy you have is your own ignorance and fear; conquer those, and you have no reason to hate or discriminate. Without those things, the world will be a much better place.
Needless to say, I'm more than a little tired of this all...
The guy in charge of the project has openly supported Hamas and other groups that actively engage in terrorism (you know, Hamas, the Palestinians, the same people that danced in the streets on 9/11).
He's also blamed america for the attack, and not once condemed the radicals that did this.
Hell, if he had came out right away from the begining saying that he was against the radicals and the mosque would be dedicated to peace, I'd be all for it.
Execpt he's not.
This Mosque is largley being funded AND ran by radicals.
Oh and an intersting fact: A greek orthadox church was among the buildings destroyed on 9/11. The NYC Govt is not letting them rebuild. Yet a mosque, ran by radicals who blame america for the attack, is allowed to build on ground zero, replacing a building so close to the event that it was condemed becuse a landing gear landed on it.
