Do to the ever increasing "trickery" of traders I think we should develop some pirate code on how to survive a pirate/terroist holdup. These rules assume you have the intentions to pay.
1. Cut your engines
2. If facing a trade lane entrance or jump gate. Cut your engines and do a 180 so you are no longer facing the gate. Too many people stalling waiting for them to come up.
3. Don't whine about the jump gate/docking ring/mooring fixture/jump hole being in use. You didn't have to dock to try and escape us. You could very easily hit escape and try to survive while they do come up or you could just pay us. No, it is not dock killing. Dock killing is when I shoot at you while you are undocking or you where entering a jump gate and a npc fighter puts your ship in a spin and you get stuck on the gate, or you undocked and got stuck in the base.
4. Don't drag it out, it only takes 10 seconds to hit trade, and type in the demanded amount of money (use the keys on along the top, numpad doesn't work). If you take more then that time I'm going to start shooting again. Too many traders stalling for renforcements. You either are going to pay or not.
5. I will or my parnter will keep your shields down while you are paying. To many traders stalling to get shields up to make the last bit of run to safety.

why do you expect traders to comply with you?
they never want to pay you..and its more fun to evade, than to follow your asinine rules for an smooth extortion.
here's an idea. make your partner a frieter, so after you kill the trader, you can still profit.
Easy way pirate in a group of 2 or more GB the trader always pays also find out hope much there cargo is worth you charge less more likely for them to pay and be in there intress.

Yuri Neova: I will say this; I NEVER comply with pirates. If I find my ship is gonna be destroyed, I jetison cargo and destroy it. Pirates get NOTHING from me.
Plus, I'd rather follow these rules as i they were guidelines;
1: Never ignore a call for help
2: Never take from those poorer than yourself <- PERFECT for pirates:)
3: Never Gamble unless you're prepared to lose
4: Always have a quick get-away
5: Never pilot a ship under the influence.
These are Roa's Rules, taken from Star Wars; The Han Solo Trilogy, Book II, The Hutt Gambit, page 85, I believe. Probably in the 90's though.
