I like it, though what you may be doing is redirecting traffic away from Leeds. However, this will make certain things (like policing and lane piracy) a lot easier.
I really don't see how this would ruin the economy. Disallowing a single jump hole? I fly for Bowex and choose to take lanes between my destinations anyway. Those that can't be asked to fly a few extra minutes to deliver gold will be inconvenienced, sure, but I fail to see how this change would "ruin the economy." Colour me crazy, but I always thought of jump holes as means of transportation for pirates and smugglers rather than the ground on which inter-house trade was firmly routed.
The current economy is based on the calculation of profit / distance. This system is based on the shortest possible route, and this makes important not only TL / JG but also JH. If you delete important JHs, you change profit / distance calculation and delivery of certain goods to certain bases may cease to be viable. And instead of increase the number of traders in the system, they may not actually be there at all. They will fly to other places where they will earn more. Of course there are routes RP that don't make big money, but do not kid yourself, everyone trades for money, and flies, where they can earn more in shorter time.
I'd also point out that if you DO remove the leeds-magellen hole, you dont need to remove the leeds-dublin hole, as that gold route has already been cut off.

Why not just put in bigger badder NPC patrols, kind of like Gallia has... ever try to fly a transport through gallia that is red to almost all the NPC's?
Like you said, it's a warzone, it should be dangerous.
Enjoying a game isn't always taking the easy route, sometimes you have to take chances and trust in luck, sometimes that luck takes a big bite out of your backside.
Whats action like in Rheinland then?
How about Kusari?
I think it's all pretty thin on the ground. My thoughts on the reasons behind this?
The wars and super alliances.
FL is getting boring because no-one wants to do anything to upset a possible ally.
The RHA fought the RM. The Mollys fought the BAF. The Gaians didn't get a look in but now with Holmfirth, I'm surprised thats still the case..maybe a base for the Buc?
Maybe we ought to look at Liberty?
Theres always action in Liberty. The Rogues, Xenos and Hackers are all on the loose and make their presence felt. The LN are always busy, as are the LPI (not so much now LPI). They are so busy they complain about the numbers of unlawfuls (thats not a dig at any of you guys by the way).
In Bretonia, the Corsairs raided and fought the BAF. Then, after a while, the alliance between the Mollys and the BAF against the Corsairs got so silly that the Corsairs raided less and less. Then a war starts with Kusari to get the Brets fighting again but once again, it meant relying on one enemy.
When that broke down and got tired, Bretonia got tired.
Now. all thats left is the mining in Dublin. With the Battleship sitting off, it's better than the Tau's but not much.
If you want action in Bretonia, the pirate factions need to get their act together and so do the military.
Stop with all the friendly stuff.
I saw four military ships, Destroyers, Gunboats and Templers threaten two Legionaires in Bretonia last night but when there were four capable opponents, a Hacker GB, a Hessian GB, a Barghest and a Praetorian appear, the military run off.
Rheinland is going the same way with the war in Liberty. The only people they fight now IS Liberty. It's a shame cos I liked the big Rheinalnd factions to be honest. They showed no fear and went at it hammer and tongs.
Kusari?
Well whats there?
They have a very big trade run through there but there are so many Lawful/quasi lawful groups and so few possible enemies that it's dead. If the GC want action, they might do well to get the Outcasts involved a bit more. I see more of an indie than I do of any of the Kusari pirate factions - I'm looking at you General.
The Dragons?
They used to be a whole more active. Now Sigma 13 is up and running again with loads of traffic, I'm surprised I see none.
Sorry to say this but yes, the changes might alter things but frankly, it's the player base that will make the difference.
