Outcast allies:
Blood Dragons
Golden Chrysanthemums
Liberty Rogues
Lane Hackers
Mollys
Red Hessians
Corsair allies:
Gaians
Hogosha
FA
Order
...
Unioners?
Yeah, seems like Gaians got lumped into the Corsair alliance because everyone has to pick a side...
On that list, 3 of the Outcast allies have no real reason to remain allied (Dragons, Mollys and Hessians).
Corsairs are one of the most populous factions around. Note how many encounters concern Corsairs and how many threads refer to Corsair encounters...hell, I have typed the word"Corsair" considerably more often than the word "Outcast".
The pirate groups should not be seen in a black and white "Corsairs vs Outcasts" fashion. This is as bad for the individuality of groups as blurring the Police/Navy divide.
Let the factions have their individual "image", rather than "Oh, you're Outcast allies, here, fly Sabres, oh, you're Corsair allies, here, mount Del Cids". Makes it very bland.
Well the only bases Corsairs can land on that arent in the border/edge are some Freeports, Hogoscha/FA bases(but they have little to do in Kusari) and Gaian bases.
So if they wherent an ally of the Gaians they would loose their only docking spot in Britonia, the only house where they are acctualy active.
So maybe create a little outpost in NL for the Corsairs?
Factions can land on bases within their ZoI...wait...what?...
Though, I dont really see what the Corsairs and the Gaians have in common. One aims to have complete domination of Sirius and the other aims to save planets from being terraformed. The Gaians are already funded and supplied by the Green Front in Bretonia, so the "alliance" shouldn't really exist. The calibur of reasons as to why Corsairs and Gaians should be allies is the same as why Mollys and Outcasts (for example) should be allies. Thats just my opinion though.
I had been thinking about this the other day, and the logic really isn't the strongest. Though I can see why the Gaians might be interested in artifacts, with a lot of them having an educated background and, hey, they could lead to a solution for the whole terraforming problem (no idea how, but it's worth a shot, right?).
Anyway, I was thinking, perhaps some actual roleplay reasoning be formed? While the Corsairs did do that whole Molly explosion thing, perhaps they are regretting it? I'm not sure on the timeframe of that though so that may not work.
But the Corsairs are also short on food and Crete doesn't help that. Perhaps the scientific types among the Gaians are working on an ecofriendly solution to making food growth viable on Crete without breaking everything like terraforming does? That gives the Corsairs food (in theory), and the Gaians cut off potential terraforming before it happens. Perhaps the Corsairs then help supply the Gaians and/or trade them information about what is happening with Gaian enemies outside their usual ZoI?
Perhaps they believe the artifacts hold the key to restoring planets to their natural states or to protecting them from predation by others...or they just need the cash?
