I haven't seen gravity generation by rotation reference in Freelancer. I'd suggest a logical explanation involving magnetic fields and footwear capable of magnetism to stay on the deck of a ship.

Either that, or magical fairy dust which a lot of our things seem to run on.

Problem with that is multiple floors on a battleship. Either the gravity plate is at the bottom of the ship or if the plate is in the centre, half the ship's crew walks around upside down.
