While watching recruits leaving Ichiro stood up and went for a small cup of coffee. When he came back he started slowly sipping it not letting a single drop fall on his white beard.
Watching his fellow recruits get called for their private interviews, Koos sat down and waited patiently. He was a little worried when the man who came in a few minutes earlier was marched off by two marine escorts, but he put this out of his mind as unproductive. Surely confidence and obedience were traits the coalition valued.
So true is it that unnatural generally means only uncustomary, and that everything which is usual appears natural.
[font=Franklin Gothic Medium]Sergey looked around. Few candidates has left the room already with their officers. He decided to just stay calm and wait for his time.
Mendel walked out of his office, looked at the man blocking his way to the coffee maker.
It was the one thing you just... didn't do...
Get between Mendel and his coffee...
When things finally settled, Mendel was sipping a mug of coffee, standing over the recently clubbed Ichiro, who had the misfortune of being brained by the same coffee mug that Mendel was now using to drink his coffee.
He looked at the shocked recruits staring at his sudden, homicidal out break.
"It's Gold Blend," he said with a shrug. "He wouldn't appreciate it."
A Chinese Officer walked into the room full of potential new recruits. Somehow this time was different. He could vaguely remember the last time he walked into a situation like this, a new recruit that had the determination as every other person in this room. But he made it through the ordeal and lived to continue serving for the Coalition. It was his time to help pick out the seeds that will continue the values of the Coalition.
He looked through the remaining recruits with absolutley no emotion, there was no time for sympathy.
He finally found the proper recruit he would interview. He pointed to Faina Terenti.
"You, come with me" The Officer demanded.
Terenti got up from her chair and followed the chinese man into another room. There were shouts and screams coming from all directions of the other places 'interviews' were being held, however the sounds were very faint.
The Coalition officer motioned her to sit down. He circled around the table and sat down directly in front of her.
After sizing her up for a good 30 seconds he began to speak.
"A formal introduction will not be necessary, as every recruit's chances of survival are very slim. All you need to know is that I am Captain Sean Lee. Now..." Lee continued to speak as he poured a glass of vodka. "... I watched you ever since you entered the Recruitment Office, You seemed really confident and carefree, laughing, listening to music, maintaining a calm stature and I admire that. However..." Lee continued, "you will not feel those same feelings for long. So tell me, why are you here?"
Lee leaned back in his chair as the recruit was thinking of her answer

[font=Arial narrow][color=#FFFF66]The woman didn't waited too long till she found the right words and answered the officer.
[color=#FFFF00]I am here to bring my contribution and my confident attitude to the Coalition Army. We all know that we need to see the filled part of the glass in order to achieve victory. Morale is very important in any domain and I'm trying to be as optimistic as I can concerning any situation. I hope this attitude will help me be a good soldier and a good addition to the Coalition forces.
The Chinese officer reached in his jacket and pulled out a Model 77A pistol. As he toyed around with his gun he spoke, "Look behind you, do you see that golden box on that shelf? Bring it here please.." Lee asked without even looking up. The recruit had a confused look on her face but she complied.
Faina slowly placed the box in front of Lee and sat back down anxiously.
Lee opened the box to reveal 7 bullets in a perfect row. He calmly started to snap in the bullets into the pistol clip.
"Now tell me... why are you really here, and why do you want to fight for the Coalition."
Recipient of the Hispania Memorium, Golden Fourragere, Halo of Valor, Order of the Red Star, and the Hero of the Revolution
A man walked into the recruitment office. Even without knowing much about the Coalition, one could tell this man was important. The Marines immediately snapped to attention and saluted as he passed by. Maintenance workers would move out of his way. The insignia of a Colonel was visible on his uniform. The Crest of the Typoon-Class Destroyer Trotsky on his arm. The Hero of the Revolution pinned proudly upon his chest. There was no mistaking it. This was Colonel Aloysius Rhade.
He looked around the room, finally picking a candidate.
He pointed at Sergey.
"You. With me." The Candidate followed Rhade into a spartan room. There were no chairs, no decorations. Just a table, a pistol and some ammo.
Rhade motioned for Sergey to wait at one end of the table, while he circled around to the other side. Picking up the pistol, he put ammo in it and set it down beside him.
Without looking up at the candidate, Rhade spoke.
"Tell my why you're here, and you better not be cliche."
[font=Arial narrow][color=#FFFF66]Faina's enthusiasm faded as Lee filled the pistol's clip. She was used to harsh work in rather hostile environment. She saw injured or even dead people but she never feared for her life like this. For a moment the woman though about going back to Jianxi and forget about the army but she found a better answer and spoke.
[color=#FFFF00]I am here to fight for the Revolution, I am here to join the army. I'm already part of the Coalition but I feel that my work is not enough. I want to do more than just work in a metallurgy. Like I told the commissar moments ago, I want to help the Coalition to spread the ideology of equality and peace. Seems that the only way to do it with all those corrupt governments of the old Western Alliance, is through force of arms. That's why I want... I feel my place would be in the Coalition Army. Every young man and woman should do whatever they can to protect and spread the ideology behind the Revolution. I'm one of them and this is what I think I should do.
