A group of independent filmmakers of Sirius in association with Bretonian Broadcasting Corporation have launched a special ship, designated "BBC.Wild_Life", to collect video material for the upcoming documentary movie.
The documentary will show what factions are there, what are their goals, a sneak peak into the depths of Sirius sector. Of course to please our audience we will add action material, shots of large-scale battles, chases and more.
The group is led by Anton Ziegler, an adhering independent film director from Rheinland, Stuttgart. The movie will be released unrated as Anton insists, meaning there might be harsh language, but such is his main principle: to show life for what it is.
Length of the movie is not decided yet, whether it will come as an episodic content or as a whole is to be seen. For now the group is on it's way to border worlds to find out what it means to live on the edge.
OOC:
BBC.Wild_Life is equipped with Neutral ID, attack on purpose is prohibited. My finger is always on fraps recording button (video capture). The ship may be damaged or even destroyed while filming major battles, it's a risk to be expected, but attacking on purpose is a big "no-no".
When enough material (right now I have 400GB on my HDD freed specifically for this purpose) will be gathered I will remove redundant clips and mix the rest into the actual movie using Sony Vegas. The factions are expected to behave within their RP boundaries because there will probably be no second takes or anything. I will notify when the recording starts and when it ends, so at that period of time, please, cut OOC in system chat. Post RP messages, show what you are. Remember, you will be the face of Discovery Roleplay, so hold it up.
The video will be released on youtube and will be available to download in higher resolution.
p.s. Why? Because Harbinger is destroyed and I want to play FL in this unusual role... :-)
Just out of curiosity, are you using a Camera Ship for this?
Known as on Discovery RP 24/7: Thomas_Hill - Train [KNF]TakajiKimura - Chimera
You may also know me elsewhere as I'll Begin or something including "Volbeat"
alright this was one of the great ideas i had in mind :D
so i would love to get a camera ship and join you...
//i have fraps but not that much hdd space... i tried to convert fraps vid to some other formats before but not succeeded it. if you have any tool to convert that format to some hdd friendly one can you name it?
@drauger: it's not really about format, it's about compression methods. Videos generally consist of three parts: container format (Video for Windows, QuickTime, RealMedia, Matroska, usually identified by extension, such as .avi, .rm, .mov, .mp4, .mkv), video compressor (DivX, Xvid, QuickTime Video, etc) and audio compressor (MP3, AC3, Vorbis OGG, etc). Some formats may support features like menus, subtitles and more, but not every video player may support those. Fraps has built-in lossless compressor. There are both free and commercial software to convert from one to another. VirtualDUB for example. For video editing it's mostly about commercial software such as Pinnacle studio, Adobe Premier and Sony Vegas. I'm not expert but I do know few things about that, if you want competent answers head to Doom9 forums, there is a lot of information about video processing.
I wouldn't mind if you had your own camera ship, but the problem here is that the source material need to be in high quality before mixing, processing and compressing. If you did recording before you know that fraps saves video in lossless quailty, it has built-in compressor but the resulting size is still a lot, for example a few minutes can take up a gigabyte or even more. Considering amount of work and bad takes it'll take tens and possibly hundreds of gigabytes to store all the material. Therefore it's impossible to share those amounts between us considering the limitations of our internet connection bandwidth.
@Fellow Hoodlum: the answers were meant to be in roleplay, that's why I had that RP intro, but I guess this isn't the case. Regardless, the RP part of the original message is still meant for RP section.

thanks for the info, i guess you are right about sharing the shots:(
but i think community needs independent directors too:)
