There's still a little thing called "weapons".
Quote:Also, if we do start getting damage from asteroids, at least let us blow them into little bitty pieces. Take the Liberty dreadnought, you got alot of guns facing forward, just blow up anything in your way, you take no damage and carve a dreadnought sized corridor for other ships to use...That sounds like fun actually.
That would be fun for the players, not so much for the server. The extra volume of data and calculations would be horrible, even if it was easily applicable (which it isn't).
@ topic:
"Congrats for Cannon, Scene 1, take 9 and... ACTION!": Good Job, Cannon! :D
@ Asteroid damage:
No. Just NO! Never! Roid-damage for any class? So you mean:
Miners will have to pay extra?
Capships which do missions (points at Gamma) have a bad time?
T-31 will become a system wide death-zone, once NPCs wipe you out of the lane, with all these white roids
on white backround?
Make any fight in roid belts even harder for anyone? I mean like "Player was killed by an asteroid."?
What about those low density belts, where static roids are smaller and harder to see in cruise?
Shooting roids, may be more realistic for caps (i see Star Wars: Empire strikes back fans here) but
what about fighters? They can't shoot at them, cuz their weapons are too weak, or they can shoot them
which drains their energy faster in a fight?
Gallia had a harder time getting past the Taus when invading?
Sidenote: Forcing me to scrap my invetion, the "Spatial anchor turn"?:nono:
Summary: More coding work in the name of realism and sacrificing fun. No thanks!
Idea then. Asteroid damage ONLY if your speed is > 40m/s. No cruising through asteroid fields, careful, slow maneuvering at half speed.
As for the ghost docking ring, easy enough to fix that, simply replace it's current hitbox with the vanilla one. But it will impact ships too big to fit in that ring.
Wide awake in a world that sleeps, enduring thoughts, enduring scenes. The knowledge of what is yet to come.
From a time when all seems lost, from a dead man to a world, without restraint, unafraid and free.

An interesting idea. But how can you fight at that speed against other players, when you are pretty much
sitting ducks?;)(*looks at T-23*) Not to mention using EK.

That'll make Sairs, OC and well, almost all Ege/border wolrd factions cry. Since they need to plow through field after field in order to get somewhere.
and The Order is pretty much stuck in Minor then. Since it's 1 giant astroid field.

Still 2 issues
1. NPC's that like to flip big ships at high speed
2. I am sorry, but that just be wasting our time. 4 hours of flying to get through Alaska or Magellan is not fun.
