Tom entered the tea shop quietly, trying not to draw attention.
He walked to the counter and got Christy's attention, "Do you sell anything stronger than just tea?" This isn't a bar, sir, Christy replied with a snort.
"Alright. How about irish coffee?" I'm sure I can whip something up.
Tom grabbed a table in the corner to wait for his drink.
Barney walks in. He looks around.
-Man I need a tea...right now. A cup of tea please.
-Sure. Here you are.
-Thanks..that's exacly what I need right now.
-Enjoy.
Barney sits in the corner and relaxs. He thoughts"That's the ideal thing for the end of shift. Tea, music and peace....I would use some whisky but I get that at home"
Barney comes in. He looks tired but satisfied.
- Another day, another adventure huh?
- You wouldn't believe...I started up with a kusarian battleship orbiting around Leeds...and ended with pack of Molly rookies...
- Hell of a day then. Tea?
- Sure...I sit and wait for others...
- Be my guest
- And to think that I could have been a merchant haha...imagine me in the freighter...Jesus that would be terrible. Well I hope the guys will get here after shift.
-They always do - eventualy.
- Good...you have some biscuits? Thanks I was dreaming about them for about 4 hours now haha AT LAST. Come to me you little sweet bastards!
I must chill on adrenaline...
The slight tapping of polished shoes was the only indication that someone new had entered the room. He was obviously Bretonian, fairly tall, and stood in a way that seemed too straight to be natural, almost as if he was royalty. He didn't even seem stymied by the rain, his white suit impeccably dry, made with some strange fabric. His hair seemed not all that bad when wet, as if it was meant to be that way. He walked up to the counter, simply getting a glass of water and a muffin, then taking an empty seat at random. His particular choice was strange though, leaving him in relative darkness compared to the rest of the room, though not by much, simply out of direct light. He looked around, smiling when he realised nobody had quite noticed him, and relaxed, flicking out a small PDA and reading the news feeds.
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
Barney wakes up when Tom adressed him.
-Oh Hi Tom , I hope you are alright after today's fun near Leeds huh?
Was a bloody madness if you ask me. I got your capsule just after the blast.
Come here let's have a talk.
Tom sits with Barney and they talk about the today's shift. When Barney finishes his Tea eats the last biscuit.
-K Tom see you tomorrow I think we are going to have more adrenaline in our duty then today but still we knew what we are going into right?
See you bro.
Tom entered Christy's and headed straight for the bar.
"Hey Christy, any of the others been in yet?" Nope. Sorry, hon. Can I get you anything?
"Coffee, please."
He sat down to wait for his drink, and his co-workers.
Katie walks up to the entrance of Christy's, she adjust's her hair and clothing before she grabs the door handle. She opens the door and looks above as the bell rang joyfully above her, she takes a few steps in while examaning her surroundings. She breaths deeply, sucking in all the pleasant smell's of the small shop.
"Wow it smells good in here" She said Joyfully. She sights some of her colleagues and walks towards them with a smile.
"Hey guys" She waves to them, as she goes to take a seat.
The white-suited man turned his head as he heard the delightful sound of a female voice. Twisting a red rose between his fingers, he smiled, watching her cross the room to her seat, before looking back down...he glanced again, as if he wanted to talk to her, but didn't wish to intrude. Eventually, though, he sat the rose down on the edge of the table, going back to the news.
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
It was a wet damp day; Katie running round the pavements that were shining with water, the sound of the rain smashing the top of her umbrella was crackling in her ears. People were dashing around, not looking very happy to be in the rain. The wind was hitting her unpleasantly.
She was fighting with her umbrella, however Christy's was in sight, and she sighed in relief.
'Finally there...' She gasped. As she closed in on the entrance of Christy's the pleasant scent of pastries and tea's travelled up her cold red nose.
She reached the door, she could hear cheerful laughter and speech coming from the small shop, she opened the door and the heat blasted on her face.
'Ah, I made it..' She said relieved that she was out of the rain, in the shelter of Christy's.
Before she stepped completely into the warmth of Christy's, she turned round to shake the water off the top of her umbrella, she paused at the door, staring sadly outside into the rain.
'Hey, don't let all the heat escape love' Christy's voice said behind her. Katie was thrown out of dreamland, and turned round to face Christy, who was smiling at her.
'Ooh, sorry!' Katie replied. She closed the door behind her as she walked into the warmth; she slowly travelled to the counter whilst looking round at the small groups of people inside.
'Smells so good in here as usual Christy' She smiled. Christy smiled pleasantly at Katie, 'Hah, you look destroyed, you been runnin'?'
'Yeah, didn't want to stay in that weather for long!' Katie cheerfully replied. Christy nodded slowly. 'Yeah, its been like that all day, anyway..Can I get you anythin' then?'
'Oh yes please, an Earl Grey will do me just fine thanks'
'One Earl Grey coming up' Christy beamed.
Katie smiled at Christy, and then turned to go find a seat. She didn't notice anybody she knew inside, so she started to look slightly worried, before she just decided to take a seat alone.
She waited for her tea looking openly out the window, into the dull weather, feeling slightly isolated.
Christy came round to Katie with a luxury looking cup, and she noticed the steam elevating out from the top, and the smell of Earl Grey was strong.
'Here you are darlin'... And don't worry, someone will be here soon' Christy assured Katie, and then walked away.
Katie stared into the mug, at the brown liquid, and smiled to herself, then she took a sip of the Earl Grey, and stared into the rain.
After a few moments, of staring blankly into the rain, Katie sighed, and looked around at the people inside.
Most the people had someone to talk with, however the 'white-suited man' cuaght her eye, she saw him doing something, but couldnt make it out. She desperatly wanted to go up to him and say hello, however she remained seated, she was staring at him for a good few seconds before she turned back to her tea.
She thought "Maybe i should go say hi.... Uhm.. Maybe its not the best thing to do"
She sighs, and carry's on to sip her tea.
