There will be a trade convoy forming at Planet Cambridge, which will fly VIP's to Planet Honshu. Exact route will be given at the appropriate time. Each trade ship involved will be required to carry a 1 million dollar credit card.
I will pay a fair price for any escort provided by any mercenaries in the area. This price will be based on ship class and the amount of ships they will be escorting. Any traders involved are asked (but not required) to help with the cost of escort.
Furthermore, I am open to any additional idea's and / or suggestions for this event to make it more fun. =)
The story so far....
Cambridge Research Station is well known for its research on pharmaceuticals. Recently, several key scientist have made a breakthrough in medicine that uses sythetic Marijuana. Needless to say, that there is a large controversy brewing in Bretonian space. A large group of scientist has decided to move its efforts elsewhere. The lead scientist and his team, who consist of a large part of the project, have been given temporary diplomatic immunity by Honshu's governor, a well known supporter of Marijuana legalization. Up to this point, Neither the Bretionian or Kusari Governments have announced an offical Standpoint on the situation.
The Lead Scient of the project, Dr. Tommy Chong (A kusari Native) has publicly expressed his disgust with the Bretonian Government, who which has in turn ruined him in the public eye of Bretonia. Chong's veiws on the legalization of marijuana, and its Medicinal purposes are highly controvercial. Chongs reputation was further tarnished when rumors surfaced that he was affiliated with several large drug trafficing organizations.
After the news of his deal with the Kusari Govenor, there are talks that Chong will be charged with treason. This has not been confirmed. He has booked passage on the Mercenary Frigate, Ciro, and has extended the offer to the remainder of his research team to come with him. How many will be there? He does not know.... The Ciro is due to arrive in 1 week. Dr. Chong has gone into hiding, and will meet with the Ciro at the set date and place. Rumors are that thousands of Dr.Chongs reasearchers and supporters will come with him in a Mass defection from Cambridge and Bretonia.
That is all that is known at this point. The Trade Ship Renius, has agreed to hold the contract. The VIP refugee's will be delivered at all cost. Dr.Tommy chong will be aboard the Renius, and his survival it the utmost importance. The Ciro has sent out the call to all of his Mercenary brothers, to protect him at all cost. Renius calls all traders as well, the reasearchers will pay almost 5k up front for passage and an additional 4-5k will be paid upon arrival to honshu.
Payments are rumored to be at 1 million starting out. Will the Bretonian's interfere? Or the KNF? What of the pirates along the route? The story will be told soon.

One of my characters has RP reasons for wanting to help, but doesn't have enough money to buy the credit card. Unfortunately, I have real life obligations that could interfere; I might be there for the start, but have to leave on short notice (RP reason would be stopping for repairs due to one of my VIPs overflowing a toilet after flushing his personal stash, because he thought that the "Narcs" were out to get him). On the other hand, I might miss the start, but pick up the stragglers that got left behind on Planet Cambridge (i.e. the VIPs who were so stoned that they missed the scheduled departure).
Anyway, I think you've got an excellent set of plans, but I've developed a few ideas to refine yours. I think each trader should be required (if possible) to carry the following:
$1,000,000 credit card (or a smaller amount if finances don't allow) which in terms of RP represents a computer containing synthetic marijuana research data;
VIPs equal in number to one-tenth of the trader's cargo space which would take up exactly half the cargo space;
Units of luxury consumer goods equal in number to the VIPs to represent their personal belongings (worth $810 each on Planet Cambridge, but I don't know if they can be purchased there; if not, Planet New London sells for $630), since VIPs wouldn't move to another location without taking their most important belongings (you would'nt leave your family heirlooms behind, either);
Units of luxury food equal in number to the VIPs (the luxury food wouldn't rot en route, but be consumed as "munchies" by the VIPs who are using the next item below);
1 synthetic marijuana (which can be purchased for $1169 at Luxury Liner Hawaii in Sigma-17, I think; I'm not sure if a closer source is available) to represent two things: a variety of samples from Dr. Chong's lab and the personal supplies belonging to each VIP.
For example, a trader using a transport would have the following:
$1,000,000 credit card;
100 VIPs (10% of 1000 cargo space) taking up 500 cargo space;
100 luxury consumer goods;
100 luxury food;
1 synthetic marijuana;
298 remaining cargo space to be used however trader wishes, but each additional VIP should have an accompanying unit of luxury consumer goods and luxury food.
Why should the traders transport synthetic marijuana? The RP reasons listed above are logical, but the real reason is that most NPCs scan for synthetic marijuana and that would make the trip much more intense. If the convoy is grouped and one trader gets scanned, but doesn't drop his cargo, then the scanning NPCs (and their allies) will turn hostile against the entire group. This could represent the Bretonian government deciding to kill the defectors. I'm sure that the traders would have to scatter in all directions. I can just imagine the chaos that would ensue.:crazy:
CNS News Bulletin: Arrest Warrant Issued for Dr. Tommy Chong
The Bretonian Police Authority today announced that an arrest warrant has been issued for Dr. Tommy Chong in relation to the trafficing of synthetic marijuana in Bretonian space. The move comes after several heated debates at Cambridge between Dr. Chong and Bretonian officials calling for a legalization of marijuna for medicinal purposes. While the request for legalization has been declined by the Bretonians, rumors are circling that Dr. Chong has been in contact with several members in the Kusari government and intends to move his operations there.
At a press conference in New London a representative for the Bretonian government commented:
"...it's not surprising the Kusari are willing to support someone involved with drug trafficing, they've worked in combination with Corsairs whose attacks have now spread to affect not only Bretonia, but Rheinland and Liberty as well. Not to mention the thwarting of a recent Gaian attack in Bretonia involving a Kusari Naval Gunboat consequently destroyed by SF forces..."
Regarding the warrant the representative commented:
"...Dr. Chong was given allowances for the limited creation and use of synthetic marijuana in his experiments. Apparently, the quantities were not sufficient as he felt it necessary to not only produce more than he required but figured on profitting from the increased income by selling his excess amounts on the black market to help pay for his research..."
Regarding the rumors on Dr. Chong's departure to Kusari:
"...the arrest warrant calls for Dr. Chong's capture and return to New London to face charges. Researchers found along with him will also be searched for contraband. If found carrying, they will also be charged with drug trafficing and escorted to New London. Any ship refusing to comply will be disabled. Ships scanned to be clean will be free to proceed wherever they like, provided they have no other offenses to their name."

I'll allow any trader to carry any cargo they wish, to include the "medicinal" marijuana", they will be under the protection of the mercenaries who escort the convoy. Im sure that SOMEBODY will be willing to carry the "stash", so I encourage it. This should make this event MUCH more interesting.
Im requesting the help of any volunteers to assist me with running this event, Im the only one right now, and a few more people will help a great deal. Please PM me or post here if you are willing to help. Also, I need to know which factions will be activly participating in the event, or at least post an "official" stance on the RP stories that are developing.
RP story:
In light of the recent warrant issued for his arrest, Dr. Tommy Chong, whose whereabouts are currently unknown has sent a letter to the CNS news room. The letter reads as follows:
Citizens of Sirius,
The Bretonian government's accusations of criminal involvement are false. I have never engaged in black market trade of synthetic marijuana. I flee Bretonia not because I am a criminal, but because I refuse to allow my research to be toyed with by government officials that plan to commercialize my work. This cannot happen. My work is for the good of all of sirius. Medicinal Marijuana holds the key to curing the plague that has killed millions on Planet Harris. I do not yet have a cure, but I am close. I vow to every one of you that when my research is complete, I will release all of my findings to the public. I will not make any money from this endeavor nor will anyone else.
-Dr. Tommy Chong"
It is unkown to anyone wether Dr. Chong is telling the truth. Many side with his plight, due to the Bretonian governments failure to present any solid evidence that would tie him to black market trade. When asked, the Bretonian Government refuses any comment on an ongoing investigation.

Firebird has accepted a roles as the Event Co-Ordinator. Though he will not be able to participate in the event, any questions may be referred to him or myself.
Details on the event:
I will meet all convoy members at Planet Cambridge aboard the trade ship Renius to deliver CC's and Contract Payments. Once that is done, I'll load the Ciro to lead the Convoy.
The Ciro will not be taking an active role in combat, it will be used mostly as a brodcast ship to RP the event.
All players must be above level 40. All mercenaries and traders must have an appropriate ID.
All Trade ships and Mercenaries joining the convoy will recieve a 1 million dollar credit card, which I will provide.
Traders, If you do not have enough to purchase a load of VIPS, I will try to help you. Funding IS limited!
This card may be cashed in upon arrival to Honshu as payment for your participation in the event. I do this to help with the RP of the event. If you die, you lose your pay.
Traders are free to carry any cargo they like to fit the RP of the event.
All players are to have a good time, and enjoy the event.
Volunteers Needed:
I am looking for a player to fly a trade ship loaded with Synthetic Marijuana, any takers?
I will be allowing no more than 3 capships (GB's and Ciro not included) for military escort. These ships will recieve individual contracts.
I need two volunteers to in leadership roles.
1 Military Controller for the convoy, and 1 trade convoy leader. Experienced members only please.
Will be discussing things more with Joe, but here's what we got/need:
Roles assigned and to be played out:
1. Ciro - Dr. Chong (himself) - there can be only one, lol
2. Regular Researchers (not engaged in illegal activities, part of the convoy) - as many as want to participate, the more the marrier
3. Naughty Researchers (carrying extra weed for unlawful delivery and the people that misused Dr. Chong's authority and why he's accused of drug trafficing) - thinking 1-3
4. BAF/BPA - out to detain Dr. Chong and the members of the convoy to identify the naughty researchers (primary ships to disable drug trafficers and Ciro, rest of the convoy is secondary) - as many that want to participate
5. Escorts - hired to protect (whether in general or more specifically for certain ships depends on which researcher hired them;)) - as many that want to participate
5. Uninvolved Pirates, out to steal anything they can - as many that want to participate
6. Involved Pirates, out to meet with their Naughty Research vessel and complete the cargo transfer (cash for the drugs) They act as if they're raiding the convoy but deal with their naughty researcher who gives in without a fight - matching the number of Naughty Researchers
7. KNF - out to attack Bretonia in Tau-31, ensure the convoy enters Kusari space, (possibly look for the naughty researchers themselves)
For every Naughty researcher if there was a pirate group out to meet them on-route that would be ideal. A Bretonian and Kusari pirate group would work since one could meet in say Leeds and the other in Kyushu. However, two kusari pirate groups would also work to make that side of the run more interesting as the KNF would then be defending the convoy.
BAF/BPA supports can intercept the convoy in New London/Leeds/Tau-31 (stops due to KNF interference at Holman). KNF supporters become involved at Tau-31 and continue with the convoy until Honshu.
Participants are allowed to be one ship and only one ship (thus a player can't engage with one ship in New London and a different one in Tau-31).
Major comm groups would be BAF/BPA, KNF, the convoy, and individual pirate groups. Leaders for each group can help coordinate things and ensure fair play. Pirates should not be grouped with their mole since that would make the mole very easy to spot for the police.
A cash bonus will be handed out evenly to participants at the end, suggest Tau-31 for the meeting place since its right smack in the middle. Current pot to be split is $100 mil but that's expected to grow.
Events that require heavy RP conversations in-game (good talkers and quick typers):
1. BAF meets up with the Convoy (BAF Leader and Ciro) - announcement of the warrant, denial of allegations by Ciro, evidance showing Dr. Chong signed-in for a larger than expect quantity of marijuna, Dr. Chong's realization of a mole and that someone forged the signature, the moles in the convoy try to run, BAF opens fire to disable running vessels, mercs engage, chaos ensues, Ciro et al. on the run with BAF attempting to disable vessels
2. If BAF and KNF meet with the convoy nearby (BAF leader and KNF leader) - pretty much both sides show mutual dislike towards each other and go after each other and ignore the convoy which passes over to Kusari space (can be a good spot for a breather and regrouping)
3. KNF meets convoy - general welcome to Kusari, let us show you the way
4. KNF defends convoy against pirate assault.
For the sake of simplicity, destroyed ships will be considered disabled, otherwise an "agreed rule" would be needed as the BAF/BPA are out to disable and capture the ships not destroy them (could have the rule that a ship is considered disabled if below 25 or 50% hull but that makes things more difficult in ensuring there are no rule breaks so follow KISS on that one (KISS - keep it simple stupid)).
For those wanting more RP, here's your chance because I can't think how this event can have any more roleplay without going completely crazy (though it may be a bit like that already).

I suggested that each trader should have 1 synthetic marijuana on board to represent the personal stash that each VIP would be likely to have, but also to represent part of Dr. Chong's research samples. If all of Dr. Chong's research samples are loaded on one ship and that ship is destroyed, then his research would be set back by years. He can't afford to put all his eggs in one basket (or all his synthetic marijuana on one ship). Synthetic marijuana needs to be carried on more than one trader. Note that as I was writing this, Firebird posted again -- More than one Naughty Researcher will be needed.
