Indeed, but the Goa'uld are a highly egotistical race who would sooner eat their own family before being subservient to another species, as opposed to the guard-dogs-of-Dom-Kavash Nomads.
On Topic: Extremely well done, sk855. I have a cropped picture of a Nomad you could use for their individual/infiltrator form.
Addressing in order, had some RL business to attend. Fiance needed help with some homework.
Quote:I would also add that nomad ships have "bones" as well,
I agree that they do have a bone like structures running throught them. The longer video shows this well. The series of tube like framing that can be seen inside the nomad ship is what I interpreted it as. I put notation of the H/I in the plant cell assosiation list as the Endoplasmic reticulums being like bones. Ill add more about them actually supporting structure, and developing as a skeleton of sorts, rigid in some parts, and pliable in others.
I also agree with the telepathy, she has not gotten to that stage in the research yet to substantiate her findings on it. I did however hint to it here
Quote:She looked at the various pods, pressed her forehead gently on the glass and looked inside. After going back and fourth a bit, she felt one of them pull on her consciousness. It was very slight, but she could sense its energy over that of the others. This one was her candidate.
The fighter that she purchased was slightly emitting an energy signal that Alice was able to pickup. All of the fighters do it, just the specific one she picked was stronger to her specific brainwaves, or energies. I quite like that idea of nomad design, along with the hive mind workings.
Quote:oh and is there any chance a virus such as Alpha Red from the NJO series being developed to kill them specifically?
I am not sure of what series your talking about, but i know what you mean. Being the Nomads are a life form, there would be means to influence their organic systems. The short answer is yes it would be possible to effect the Nomad ships, but the nomads themselves im not sure on. What I have understood of them so far is that the Nomad itself is a being of energy, that takes control of a physical form rather than being within it from the start. So destroying the organic creature may not kill that specific nomad. I have not seen a nomad outside of its host or ship otherwise.
Quote:why does my freelancer version not play that extended video?
It was removed from the game, speculations point that it was because the nomads were made out to be to powerful in that video. It was only availible i think on a bonus cd that came with the freelancer sound track.
and to the rest of your questions jinx:
The nomads that possessed people would also fly the organism ships much in the same way. Ive always felt that the nomads are beings of energy, while their weapons are organisms they control. It explains how they are able to possess people and control them.
The nomads probably seemed to lack a cruise function in the single player because you were meant to fight them. However, they do have their own sound effect for a cruise engine so that points to differing technology. it sounds like a high pitched whine. I'm not sure of any other ships in discovery that use this sound.
The spinny glowy stuff are the various organels within the ships. Id have to take a closer look to compare, but they are pretty much larger versions with many similarities as has been pointed out. I may move onto larger ships later with more details on them if this first series of research works out.
Ill update and post more information in a bit.
Oh, and i would love that picture.

If you want to see the spines of the nomad ship,, then try docking on a planet like Toledo. Most of the time, you will see the spines show through when you are entering or leaving. As to why the video is different to what we see today, I believe this had to do with what the game was about. While the extended version ties into what we have, It gave away a bit too much info from Freelancer that we get from playing through SP. If we had THAT startup video, then we would be on the lookout for Nomads the entire time, up until we actually meet them. Because they removed that part of the video. We don't KNOW about the Nomads until we actually meet them.
EDIT: after reading a previous post about the nomads, I have noticed that the nomads charge their 'cruise engine' right before they cloak. I have also prevented a nomad from cloaking by shooting it with a Cruise Disruptor. So I think its safe to assume that instead of engaging cruise, they engage a cloak.
While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack http://pastebin.com/SYQXBufs
I think we could get some RP out of this so...

Enclosed in this file is ALL research pertaining to the ALPHA RED project. Effectively it was a virus that Targeted only the Yuuzhan Vong, which after close scrutiny of their dna and the dna of the nomads, i have found several similarities in their dna. This suggests that the Vong are a spin off of the Nomads, or they came from the same Galaxy. I believe that further improvement on ALPHA RED, could engineer an anti nomad virus. Unfortunately the original project was used primarily for ground deployment and affected everything, execept us humans. If used in space, this risk would not be present, and we to irradiate the hulls of all effected ships after a battle.

Vape, this is NOT Star Wars, forget about it here. This is Freelancer. Period.
Even mentioning of anything SW-related in RP would have "WTF?!" response at very best (not to mention you'd probably have the similar reaction from our RP moderator). You can go as much as you like for "virus solution" to Nomads, but making reference to SW in the RP context would be a very poor choice. Cambridge research institute and Ames facility might be your best choices to start with that RP line.
ok for now, ill leave the alien race stuff blank, any ideas for another race?

In other words, a fill in the blank
The only other alien race mentioned in Freelancer universe is Dom'Kavash, but they aren't here anymore, plus humans have little to no idea what they really are and if they bear any resemblance to the Nomads.
First of all: try to make your roleplay based on FL universe. It's not about filling blank lines, RP is much more than that kind of template, and Nomads-related RP is one of the most difficult one given that you have to keep it in such way it doesn't contradict original game nor it attempts to give all answers for all questions we had after competition of single player campaign. And secondly: do that in separate thread, please. This thread started as a discussion of upcoming Unit-sk855 roleplay post in his story, not yours.
Ok that works, i like to RP but, i think i REALLY need to stop reading SW books, yeah and ill wait to RP later, maybe then ill get it right.
Edit: Could an admin remove the RP posts here (not my other posts just the two above).
I cant wait till more nomad info comes out
This is indeed good stuff. Nice work, Unit, it's actually a very good thing to have all these theories compiled like that. On the matter of the Nomad Superweapon seen in the extended intro, I've always been of the opinion that, because of the planetbusting thing, it's most likely the Nomad's analog to the Death Star, and not much else. Big, slow, and Big Gun. Chances are it's probably much larger than anythign else they have; remember, why make things massive when you can deliver all the necessary destructive force in a smaller package?
