good idea salamander so i present exhibit A....
my char warbringer, i havent posted a bio of him yet but i was thinking that he could be a True Hybrid, but with the human still in control, ill come up with a story later, anyway, he would be an Order Pilot (appropriately) any suggestions for this?
from fighting the nomad NPCs there appear to be at least three behaviour types:
- the soloing fighter
- the fighter wing
- the capital ship raid force
the soloing fighter appears not to have a morale check and fights to the death, no matter how much its hurt. often found in omicron major - and it has the original stats. ( recognizable by its dps - which is a joke )
the fighter wing appears in groups of 4 and has a clearly defined wingleader. the ships dodge as a group and attack a ship from different sides. sometimes they get back into a tight formation. an important fact about these groups is that they do check their morale. when being hurt seriously, they retreat ( actually, i am not certain if they cruise. - but they disappear after around 2.5 clicks ( roleplaywise we can call it a cloak maybe, but in game engine terms, they simply vanish ))
the capital ship raid force has a leader hirachy. battleship, 2 gunboats, 4 fighters. they appears not to have such a strict morale check like the fighter wings. and often ( and there s an AI bug, i guess ) the fighterwings don t break formation and can be shot down easily ( happens with all similar faction raid groups ).
now - the big question about fighting the nomads.
the raid groups appear to be organized like a hive. with a superior brain and lesser brains. it still appears as if the lesser brains are really only having telepathic bounds to the greater ones, cause if the greater one is destroyed, the lesser ones take over the job in an instant.
so it appears that the nomads are indeed like a hive, - but ready to replace the "queen" when necessary and not at all going mindless and guideless. - which means that it appears not easily possible to take out the nomad menace by "beheading" the leader. <-- that is if one knew where that leader brain was.
that leads me to another thing... are nomads individual minds?
they do seem to know when they are hurt and try to avoid the final blow ( morale ). they do have an understanding of things around them and the wits to use tools other than only a blunt axe. the colonies were, in contrast of the sol system not blown away, but manipulated.
but how much do the nomads share one vision?
again, i wonder, who is Blix, or what is he? - from what it appears ( and since we don t have evolved humans ) he is what we call a "wild" - nomad possessed. but if he really is, why is he acting against the nomads. in terms of our fight agains them - can nomads be convinced to cease their hostilities? is maybe getting "possesed" a way to communicate with them. maybe the rheinland chancellor was so easily seduced into war, cause he was positive about it anyway as a human allready and the nomad inside him just let his deepest desire out. - so if someone who is calm and strong inside might aswell live in a productive co-existancy.
As for hive mind and nomad NPCs. Well, I suppose they have telepathic network to communicate and control their fleets. They may as well not have a root node, but several units forming top node. In case top node collapses units fall back to lower nodes and so forth until no upper node exists which results in very primitive behavior as they are apparently quite dependent on collective knowledge that guides them.
Personality of Blix was never explained and it's very vague on his actual affiliation. Remember, Nomads are very good at deceit and using humans to push their goals, they may as well used that trickery to get locations of rebels to spread out web and plan ambush, and ambush is what exactly they did. That duo of him and his parter might as well just be higher up agents. Even for Order to employ someone who has been touched by Nomads and can easily read mind in a distance is certainly too much of a risk.
I believe that the "gods" that Blix was in contact with were not the Nomads, but the Dom Kavash. The Dom Kavash artifact noise plays when using the crystal.

Oh right, but sound file? Hardly convincing considering re-use of material, including sound files, is quite common around. So, I wouldn't be sure about that.
I have read your report concerning Nomads, their ships and their systems with great
interest. Not only because of the enclosed information, but also for the deviation
from generally accepted guidelines.
As an example, the system of Omicron Kappa is listed as "Unknown" in the
official map system, do you use this name only for yourself or is it documented
elsewhere?
Also regarding the fact that the abnormal gas cloud surrounding the Nomad Lair is
not at all infinite and your theory about the Dyson Sphere being a advanced singularity projection
urges me to conduct a conversation with you. Please post here, contact me via
Private Message or bleep me anytime I am around.
Thank you in advance,
Yours sincerely
