Maybe because you are not letting us do that?
Punish the wrong-doers, to show example of what's waiting and not common discussion participants by locking threads where they might speak in a civil manner.
If you don't like that you are not allowed to curse on the forums, or youre upset that you don't get to use the forums as a soapbox for your own real life beliefs, you should find somewhere else to play,
I see where Zelot is coming from. We have had some truly bad trolls before. Topics should be selected carefully. I'll discuss the problems and successes of urban environments but I would not touch hot button issues that typically pit rural vs. urban.
I'll discuss the value of government investment but I would avoid discussing the general appropriation of funds (riddled with touchy points).
Zelot is right, this forum is primarily for gaming with some departures in light hearted topics.
If you want a drawn out discussion on politics there are places for that.

Ohno people that might like to have a serious argument with other people ON A GAMING BOARD.
Damnit guyz, quick ... to Skype! The world's still free there.
And ye, always cool to tell those that are not sharing the basic setted view on the guidelines of a community to "Shoo off" ... nice 'lil bunch a people you're. <<
Oh, and... just saying, this "somewhere else" ... it's so damn beautiful. People ain't whining bc of a bad word there, and you know, it's much more like the real world. Hey (wait) ... it's the real world. Damnit.

Cursing is not allowed, it's not going to be allowed. Igiss laid down the rule on that one long ago and it's not going to change. So yes, if you need a community where you are allowed to curse, go find somewhere else. I am not saying that to be rude, but I do get annoyed with people who come here, and stay here, knowing what the rules and community standards are, yet don't want to follow them. We have had the cursing argument about 5987598765978598765 times. It's the same thing every time. We don't allow cursing. Seriously, if you can't deal with it, you need to go find a community that better fits your needs.
We don't allow political discussions because they inevitably end with things that are important to people being discussed and this is the internet, where people don't thing about other people's feelings. We don't want people to feel that the "political" views of people here make them not want to come to the forums.
I don't say find another place to play to be mean or rude, I say it because everyone should be a part of a community that meets their needs, it makes it more fun, it makes it better. If part of your forum needs are political discussions, then this community is not going to meet your needs, and you wont be happy here. Why should you stay somewhere you wont be happy?

Oh, cursing not being allowed ain't the real tricky part here, but rather the fact what is deemed as being insulting/trolling/flaming/bitching or how else you'd like to call it. But ye, this argument ain't going nowhere, bc, ye... we all know how this'll end.
Oh, and... Why stay? Well... the game ain't the forums and the forums ain't the game. Easy as that.
Silly forums.
