This is extremely peculiar. I've set up a similar situation with P Funk's character and you just happen to ask this a short time after.

Anyway, I cannot speak for the admins, but I think it would be ok for you to create said characters. However, an even better idea would be to RP control by asking chars from Outcast-funded factions (Bushido especially, as we are their direct addictors) to act as snitches. It might work better with the Junkers, but in Rheinland you'd need to pay off traders. I advise you to also PM the admins the names of said characters for disclosure reasons and so they can keep track of your characters.

Incidentally, this matches EXTREMELY well with the comic opium cartel inspiring the BLS, who's members included an aristocratic couple, a Saudi Arabian Colonel, an unknown Japanese businessman, a Fakir and the royal guards of a Maharaja. Which would probably translate to 2 Bretonian VIPs in an armoured transport or something similar (which also coincides well with Queen Carina's court and provides us with rarely used civilian RP. Just use Trader ID), a GMG defense administrator (in GMG gunboat or destroyer), a Kusari trader (making 2) and some kind of celebrity holy man (similar to the Bretonian VIPs) and several escort ships.

Yes as Praetyre said this matches the MO for my character. He is a Kusari double-agent operating as #2 in the BLS. I just tonight PMed Lotek about the KNF's involvement with RPing this and getting permission to operate in their space etc..

The RP potential for spies is great. I'm looking forward to it. Secret spies would have to be developed of course. It would also be hard to play different spies characters as a single human.

Out of hibernation. Gauging the winds.

Edit: Okay i re-read the first post. Heck yea, floating around systems with your untagged character acting as a spy is fine. I assumed you meant joining opposing factions so as to gather intel on them. Sorry:)

I don't like characters as spies. You can spy easily enough just reading the message dumps on these forums or chatting people up.

Since there is absolutely no way to RP checking out someone's background (and if you tried they'd just RP that they checked out OK and not tell you they were spies), there isn't any defense against spies.

It's a non-defendable act for those being spied upon and a very bad idea IMO.

Sorry for the quasi-useless post, but I had to do it.

Anyway, so this isn't all for nothing, I believe the idea is quite interesting and has the potential to add depth and be an alternative to the more common current "search and destroy" and/or "hide and seek" aspect of the current lawfuls/unlawfuls interaction. I know of a couple of guys who do stuff like that quite beautifully (I believe both have posted on this topic already), not exactly as you've described, but their recent actions have exercised more than just the muscle from the lawful side.

My only concern... well, not really a concern, but a thought that I'd like to share, is that the fact that those characters can actually disappear quite easily gives them a great edge against the opposing forces. But, as I said, that's just a thought. I'm all in favor of that kind of shady agenda, undercover RPing.

And if you do that, please be sure to post how that's working out from time to time. No need for specifics, as that would really just blow your cover. But it would be fun to see the ongoing story from a very unique angle.

Definitely not going to be joining opposing factions, unless the RP was worked out with the faction leader(s) ahead of time... The others who have posted are right, it would just cause bad blood.

So, no specifics, but I may end up doing something like this in the future... Though since starting this thread I've come to the realization that I barely have time to play my main Disco characters, much less start a bunch of new ones. So it might be a little while.

If we were to start going into specifics, we might have to start a thread on the BLS private forums. I, once again, like the idea.
