Well since my trader will never really pay a pirate. A 10mil incentive to blow me up is ok with me.
Been here since Discovery 4.77 (lurk mode engaged)
Zapp Wrote:I have recently met and discussed with Atalawohisdi the trader that flies the Caribe. Just so everyone knows, I engaged in Sigma 13. He flies through half the system before going back to New Berlin, where he cruises from one side of the system to the other, hugging the sun as close as he can. All the while, he flies near Battleships trying to scrape me off. I finally send out the white flag, and move back to Sigma 13. However, it was a ruse, and he bit. Knowing his trade route, I interdicted the trade lane and the chase began anew. It ended, an hour after it began, with me retreating, out of Countermeasures and getting very irritated.
He kept boasting how he has never been caught; I'd like to see him beat until he begs to pay, then beaten some more.
@ Drake: Very true. And I already miss this run. But Rheinland has already made my ears hurt for entering New Berlin. So knock yourselves out. I'm done with New Berlin ... even though the multi-billionaire traders make this run on an hourly basis.
@ Caribe: At least we'd get something from you if you didn't pay.
I say best way to deal with traders that don't pay and get killed should be forbidden from trading for 24 hours or be considered re-engagement. This will make the trader work harder to avoid pirates. They'd have to find new routes or ways to avoid Sigma 13 and such. A trader should not be mindlessly flying back and forth with no opposition. They can either pay or get away to keep trading or die and stop trading.
' Wrote:@ Mjolnir: Congrats on your first effort. You had a good day and I hope you have more like this one. They're not all good days. And now that we Nayehiya are moving back to Liberty and surrounding independent systems (ie: avoiding New Berlin at all costs) we no longer go to all areas of Sirius (ie: will miss about 90% of the traders who go into New Berlin). So ... next question ... are you a generic pirate or are you affiliated? Follow-up question ... why did you pirate a trader twice? Reason is, I pirate once in 24 hr period ... note this is part of the new rules established. Welcome new pirate.
I was affiliated pirate with RP ship and weps yes.
As I didn't kill him and he or me didn't fled I don't see how it should be considered reengagement. Yes they make over 4 mil per run , so why can't I pirate them on the way back? I offered that the 1 extra mil is for next 12 hours... but he didn't show up after that. Anyway I would like some admin opinion on this. - If you can pirate just once in 24 hours then it's crazy.

Those of you traders who WANT to be pirated, I suggest you RP some more in system chat.
For instance:
"Pueblo Flight Control: Docking bay cleared. Engaging trade lane to Galileo."
In other words, broadcast some hints to any pirates in the system about your location, destination, cargo, etc.
There is an awful lot that a pirate has to do before pouncing on you, and if you want some risky fun there are RP ways to help them out.
I think we definately need more RP related system chats going on...think air traffic control type conversations.
Even if that doesn't help you get pirated, it broadens the roleplaying feel to the game and makes you use your imagination to keep coming up with different things for your character to say.

xoria has a good idea.
will probably do that...and have been doing that, with my SU....just trying to get it through people's heads that Sophie really is a depraved, cruel girl, who needs psychiatric help.
been sticking to my SU recently, as it gets attention from the authorities, but not KoS attention like Unseelie does....
and, I will restate.
pirating someone once a day is a problem.
do it over and over.
they are making oodles of money, take a bit.
here's my thought...and, yes, I know, been done before...
can we make FL hook boot dead chars for 3 to 5 hours?....numerous problems with that Idea, but, among the benefits, pirates will try not to kill traders, because then their cash cow disappears, and traders will try not to die.
it also eliminates reengaging....probably not possible, or feasible.
I, as a trader who has on occasion pirated, encourage you pirates to pirate someone as often as possible.

I've had run ins on my gunboat where the CT sporting Tizonas and Salamancas tore through my shields and actually took my hull to 50%. Also ... did you get anything from this encounter? If you walked away empty handed, what's the point? You got some carpel tunnel from that 20 min engagement with a trader.
lvl 4 transport turrets i believe, and no i didn't get any cash or goods when the traders been killed, just the satisfaction of not letting the bastards get away.
There's a reason why people don't like pirates. Just as there's a reason folks don't like traders.
Now I know I'm not popular with pirates (I'm on the list!)...but I do PAY PIRATES...the RHA, [N], BLS,...you name it....but I will try to run...if I can. Wouldn't any trader? That just adds to the RP imo.
But what I can't stand......:nono:
I am pirated in Sigma 13....I am in negotiations with said pirate.......some Outcast dreg rolls up and decides I should pay him as well...because I'm "pirated"...that would mean six million. Of course I roll out.
Again in Sigma 13 same Outcast pirates me and chases me into Kusari space....no problem
Now it gets interesting...on my return to Sigma 13, said Outcast is grouped with a BLS and the BLS pirates me. I acquiesce and am informed to pay the Outcast 3 mill. The Outcast accepts and rejects my trade requests in 15 seconds and destroys me....three times I tried to pay...thats why I do not like most pirates.
Sour grapes is how it smells.
