Lol I showed it to a friend at work and he said "Spain." but no.
A nation in Eon a fictional super-cluster of stars which at the time of the story is colonized by humanity
It belongs to the Eternal Asari Empire, the main antagonist state in my story "Eon: Crimson Star." A matriarchal society (I use that term lightly and more for the sense of government and gender roles) rule by a powerful Empress or "Autaress."
Asar is the product of a colony fleet's drive for both acknowledgement and freedom from the chains that were bound to them back on earth. It's people are of African and middle eastern decent primarily. After a mistaken landing on volatile world in the system now know as Iaru. The Asar fleet population underwent significant mutation which caused much pain and hardships for generations. Blood-red iris would be the defining trait of what would be know as Asari. Their genetics were also twisted bringing out traits once impossible for their ancestors to display due to the genetic nature of humanity in general. A higher resistance to the unforgiving sun in exchange for being a tad more at the mercy of the scarce cold. A hidden ability, locked deep within their eyes was the profound absorption of light, but not just any light a articular frequency of light almost non-existent in the natural world. Allowing there when paired with this rare form of illumination to see past mild obscurities (smoke, opaque objects), with the greatest edge being in a subject dubbed "crying Isis" a black and gold substance which permeates much of the area and star systems the Asari are surrounded by, taking the form of a gas, liquid, or even a solid object.
Desperate to escape this hellish world the Asar revamped their fleet of colony ships and landed on a neighboring planet they had missed earlier, they would name this world Asar. After which the child nation of a neighboring fleet "Brythania." Began to occupy and economically dominate the Asari population while stripping it, nearby worlds, and systems for valuable resources in a bid to achieve economic dominance. As a by-product the Asari did however reach outer worlds and systems, but only for the convenience of their loan-sharking neighbor. They were given ships, machines, tools to take full advantage of the abundant resources scattered in this corner of Eon.
The Asari had little choice in the matter due to the state of their living before Brythanian influence, and as such, surrendered the spoils of their new home, once again to another. This was until the fires of revolution were sparked inside of a young Asar-born woman and her peculiar allies. At first, almost single-handedly resisting her world's oppressors. This number would grow, re-awaking the desire to become a free people once more. Secretly utilizing the very resources their superiors sent them to fetch, creating fighting tools from the very tools and craft giving to slave away with. And when their demand for acknowledgement as more than a colony of Brythanian rule was not answered, the war began. After years of fighting off the occupied forces and their reinforcements Brythania was forced to acknowledge their new place alongside the Asari and no longer above.
Centuries after the Asari are slowly integrating into the rest of the human populace of Eon, Brythania, and it's equivalents. Their culture and people met with much prejudice from the outside, and racist, vengeful, propaganda from the inside, the head of the land was eventually turned to war. A cumulative result of the suffrage of the ancient past, daunting present, and impending future. Through manipulation and assassination, war became the death wish of the previous Autaress, leaving her naive grandchild to continue the now swerved path the Asari people marched down. An interstellar war involving all lives present in Eon.
----------------------------
Essentially Asari can be compared to Egyptian nazis in space or the Helghasts OF Killzone even in terms of vengeful warring. The empire consists of fourteen provinces spanning from continents, moons to entire systems including Asari Represented by the fourteen stars lining the top and bottom. The center has several meanings, one being a representation of the crimson sun which the capital planet revolves around. The second would be the prideful trait found in every Asari bloodline, the crimson eye. A final interpretation is the shield and mark of the red queen, the Asari Autaress, the core of the Asari nation, the eyes of both herself and her people sharing the same vision and destiny.
Fun fact: "Asar" is another name for the Egyptian deity "Osiris."
Looks quite good, especially the second one ... but ... as I don't have that much time to read through your story, what about telling for which Empire/House this is? :)
