The Cobra Squad is a mercenary group of wealthy individuals striving for combat perfection as the highest priority. Composed mostly of retired military personnel and bounty hunters of various sorts, this bunch of trigger-happy combatants focuses merely on getting better at almost every aspect of war.
The squad started its activity during the 818 A.S. right after the end of the Liberty-Rheinland War, as afterwards many battle-thirsty veterans were seeking the enhancement in their craft as warriors as well as possibly getting rid off unneeded boundaries caused by military or corporate service and more freedom of action for the sake of potential grow.
While being backed solely by its members themselves, this group has some unique ways of educating it's members to excel. The core of the group teaches the newcomers throughout an expanded course of combat simulation software, producing prosperous legacy behind which would keep teaching the others in return, allowing the whole group to expand more and more as the time passes by.
Members usually prefer to hide their personalities by using callsigns exclusively as they are at work. Nevertheless, each of them can be easily contacted or addressed by physical encounters or via Neural Net protocols, in case any individual decides to discuss any business affairs.
The Squad is growing as it’s numbers have been increasing recently. Current core contains enough solid performers able to work on the newer brethren as well as to bounty hunt efficiently.
In parallel all the teaching techniques and combat manuals are being updated with fresh up-to-date knowledge, as well as lessons themselves being improved frequently in order to improve the overall quality.
- Self-improvement in the ways of education and practicing.
- Attracting more members to the ranks.
- Gaining more influence across the Sirius as a major mercenary force.
- Finding additional employers.
Currently the program consists of various things related to Very Heavy Fighter handling. It contains several parts, covering almost all aspects of piloting theory and practicing alike.
Stages are as follows, from the shorter ones to longer:
- Theory: 1) Pilot’s visual interface settings, aiming for better performance and easier perception of the environments.
2) Control tweaking. Describes which handling features should or should not be used, why, how and when.
3) Deciding on proper equipment for the sake of better performance. This covers the examination of available snubcraft and weaponry.
- Chasing: 1) Evasion practicing, includes ways to avoid as much harm as possible while being targeted by one or more pursuers during the route towards a rescue point.
2) Pursuing techniques, showing the possible opportunities to dish out the maximum damage that your ship would allow you to.
- Dueling: 1) Guns-only dueling, consisting of such components as prolonged strafing, boxing, early-turning, sliding, along with advanced aiming lessons (such as untargeted fighting), chain-firing and proper gun/energy management directives.
2) Combat-sim dueling, meaning the full-scale fighting interactions with consumables and ammo.
- Snubcraft: Civilian / Border World Very Heavy Fighters along with Bombers for more efficient hunting. Factional snubcraft on rare occasions.
Simplified Swag Pack + HudShift.ini - Installs only the HUD parts of Swag Pack, along with HudShift.ini which removes any upper parts of the HUD completely (see screenshots). To install the addon, copy all the files in to the according folder. WARNING: DO NOT REPLACE THE WHOLE FOLDERS, AS THE PACK ONLY CONTAINS THE FILES THAT NEED CHANGE! EVERY FILE MUST BE REPLACED WITH AT THE EXACT LOCATION, EVEN IN THE SUB FOLDERS. IF THE FILE DOES NOT GET REPLACED, BUT DELETED AND THEN PASTED, IT WILL NOT WORK AND YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT YOU ARE MISSING FILES. You might backup the older DATA folder to be safe. Keep in mind, that you will have to summon all the windows (such as NavMap, Player List etc.) manually with HudShift.ini installed. To remove the HudShift feature, delete the file itself from .../DATA/INTERFACE/ folder.
Might be both, depending on the opportunities.
You know the current situation on mercenary craft isn't at it's best state, in all honesty.
While the main goals will be a bit different as of yet.
Thanks.
We've completely lost any contact with Salmin though.
Last thing I knew of him 1.5 years ago is that he was going to move to St. Petersburg.
We've gotten lots of nice people since then anyway. We'll have to leave something behind us for sure.
