So, I was watching the activity tracker today and a crazy idea popped.
As you already know all factions that do not meet the requirements of activity get written down on the admins' faction lazy list which warns the faction of their bad activity. This is only making factions log to up the one day requirement, but nothing more.
Here is a faction activity reward system:
Three factions with the most activity on the tracker shall be rewarded (Official/Unofficial) in this way:
1st Faction in activity: 500.000.000$ /CAU8 (They get to choose)
2nd Faction in activity: 250.000.000$
3rd Faction in activity: 150.000.000$
To be eligible for a reward, factions need to have at least 5 ships that have 1 day of activity. If the requirements are not met, the reward is given to the first faction below the said one that meets the requirements.
I've long suggested factions should be rewarded for doing a good job. All too often, it seems like the factions with the worst attitudes towards the mod and community are given toys and treats, with other factions left to burnout and stagnate: never getting praise for their efforts.
Although if there are rewards, I don't think money is the best choice given the state of the economy. Factions should also be rewarded on a basis with a greater scope than activity alone. 50 days of activity could translate to 50 days of bad gameplay, roleplay and attitude.
Official factions get enough rewards. Free CAU8, the use of FRs, influence on their development, can administrate the NPC faction's stations, etc. I do think that's enough reward and motivation for factions. If they don't play, they don't need these rights and priviledges anyway.
I dont think this is a good idea for several reasons:
-There's activity, and there's "activity" in which people just sit around doing nothing
-We don't need more money sources, we need more money sinks
-One faction's activity shouldn't "punish" another faction, which could happen when a faction goes from 1st to 2nd place because someone else logged more
This is dumb. It would just make people afk in space like was mentioned earlier.
Better way to make people log is a frequent supply of activity boosters like events
I don't see how this would help in any way. You can't just motivate members who do not want to play the game, or play the inactive faction, by money.
You'd just throw a billion every month to the most popular factions, while those who are struggling get nothing. And nobody revives a faction for credits. It's about passion from the leaders and the members.
I don't see that this could make a big difference, but you get an A for effort.
Those rewards are, first and foremost, tiny. All they'd do is take a dump on the economy some more. And as people already mentioned, people already log in and afk for however many hours needed to get the activity required. If anything this would encourage afking, lol
