Ohhh dear Lord, its Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Watch out pirates, if they join the navy you're done for. Although I think Mickey would fit into the Order better, cuz y'know, he already looks like hes in a disguise.
I haven't used Photoshop 5.1 in ages. Although I started with 5.0 and I found it to be much better than 6.0, perhaps I was just used to it. My suggestion is to move to cs3 or cs5 right away and start learning there. PS 5.1+ are getting to be absolete and you are wasting your time.
To learn the basics, I would suggest googling Photoshop Tutorials, read them and try creating something of your own, based on what you've read.
You work will not be as good as you want it to be right away, but give it some time and you WILL see improvement.
Always save your .psd files and the images you created.

It's like driving a car really, if you get the hang of it you can go anywhere.
Search for tutorials on google. They show you nice tricks and give you basic understanding about the features. I started out with CS2 now I'm on CS5 ... I dont see alot of huge changes in versions. Just start with CS5 right away...
