After waiting for other prospective recruits to be invited one by one into various interview rooms, Markell Williams was getting quite tired. Just as he was about to doze off he was called to go to Room 101. Markell walked into the room he didn't feel it necessary to go in there and salute, stand at attention and such. The recruitment personnel were never impressed with that, they wanted facts and evidence.
"Why do you want to join the Forces, then?" barked a surly man from behind the desk, Markell hadn't even walked halfway across the room.
"My parents served in the BAF before I was born... Now that they are gone I want to continue the heroic work they- and so many others- did and are doing for our nation. Sir" Markell worried that the story sounded cliche, but he was genuinely passionate about joining. Everyday he read, watched and heard about increasing Kusari military action and was angered and worried.
"Have any qualifications?"
"A degree in Earth History, Sir. I studied on New London and New Berlin for a year too."
"Any combat experience?"
"I was an Officer Cadet at London, and also on Berlin."
The recruitment officer looked up for the first time since Markell had entered, perhaps interested at his training in Rheinland "Good, we'll be in contact with your university and we'll get back to you."
Markell walked out of the room feeling proud but apprehensive, and in dire need of a drink.
