A scouting operation took place in Tau-23 earlier today, and it ended disastrously. The Gallic Royal Navy required additional forces for their newest probe force, myself, Brigadier Major Durand, and Lieutenant Chastain were available, and we were temporarily conscripted into the royal assault.
When we arrived in Tau-23, our first contact was a Sirian, claiming allegiance to the Gaian Movement. He refused to swear fealty to his Majesty, and we made short work of him. A Brigand Gunboat emerged from the Orkney jumphole shortly afterwards, he had been tailing our strike force.
After the Brigand Gunboat was disposed of, the Colonials became alerted to our presence after a scouting fighter sent out a distress signal. The Reservist Navy Capitaine Acadia Celest wished to fight the Sirian alone. The rest of the fleet moved forward to meet the gathering Colonials. Two Zephyr class carriers, a Council Redemption, and several snubcraft were waiting for us, while we were vastly outnumbered, we fought valiantly.
The Valor in our fleet was destroyed shortly into the brawl, gradually, our snubcraft began to fall, one by one. We were forced to pull back into Orkney. An Outcast Gunboat pursued us, signalling his idiocy. An Obstinate, and our fighters were waiting for targets to arrive through the jumphole. After only a minute of assault, he fled.
With the Outcast taken care of, we awaited for more targets to funnel through the jumphole. However, a Sirian attempting to smuggle tobacco out of Gallia was discovered instead, he was promptly fined.
The Sirian left our presence shortly after. Little did we know that he had alerted a Council cruiser of our location, if the Sirian is found again, he will be executed on sight. The cruiser was shattered to pieces shortly. With the cruiser destroyed, the survivors of the assault made our way back to Gallic space.
