If he is telling the truth about himself, then he can be at least somewhat trusted, and would have less of a chance at being a spy. If somebody walked in here and started blabbing about how they downed thousands of fighters alone and how they were the captain of a Coalition ship without being here before, you would most likely think that they're either a spy, or an idiot."
