1) The new system is impartial. The computer cannot be swayed into allowing or disallowing changes to the rules for "special" people. In the new system we are all equal.
It's an FLHook addition. I'm fairly certain it can in fact be overridden
' Wrote:2) The new system allows for greater role play opportunities. It removes many of the limitations on tech that the old system enforced. It does this at a price, the efficiency of some weapons, but that is not an exhorbant price for role players.
I guess you live in a magical world where RP =/= PvP then, which couldn't be further from the truth.
' Wrote:3) The new system allows Administrators and Developers to spend more time working on making new and exciting content because they will not have to spend so much time on sanctions for tech infractions. Each hour spent on sorting he said, she said, I can haz? posts, and They can't haz reports is another hour they can't spend on updates and bugs.
That's a load. It's not because of "sanctions on tech infarctions", and I can guarantee you that you won't see newer, shinier content added at a faster rate than before, speaking from experience here.
It's because of everyone requesting Krakens and the like and the Aoi Iseijin using nom blaster Katanas, so basically everyone has to suffer just because some people did stuff. It's the classic way of handling things here in Disco.
' Wrote:For those still not listening. You are not special. The word is equality, and there is no reason that you should be beyond it's scope simply because you have played the game longer than others. Your role play will not be hurt in the least by this change. You do not have to get rid of any current tech mixes and more mixes will be opened up to you.
Not everybody is equal. You want to treat them equally, fine. But I don't see a reason to focus on a negative instead of a positive. "Oh, some people are bad, let's nerf everyone's tech", rather than "Oh, some people are alright, let's let everybody keep their tech unnerfed so not everyone has to suffer".
' Wrote:Oh...I see. You loose the edge in combat that your favorite tech mixes gave you before. Well, if that was the reason for all your vaunted roleplay.....then I couldn't care less. You are one of the people this is meant to slap down.
Again, I'm sorry, you must live in a dream world where PvP =/= RP. There aren't even -that- many OP tech combos, and those could just be balanced out. The fact that Krakens -still- do 556 damage is insane, even if the drain got upped.

' Wrote:Mael basically said it all. RP assets are not affected - ship movement and the ability to use weapons are not in question. You'll just not be able to use the weapons as often (or spray as long). This mostly affects unskilled players who need to spray in order to do damage, and capital vessels which rely heavily on energy to sustain fire on a target.
So yea, out of faction caps will be ineffective.
You have no idea what you're talking about. You probably should've referred to some aces instead. In long fights when using fast refire weapons you're going to be screwed over hard. It'll affect slower refire weapons like 2.00s and 3.03s less, but a fighter using mixed tech with 4.00 or faster shooters is basically screwed.
