Jumpgates and war retreats

So you lock the door from your side, wow big deal, all you did is prevent people from entering on your side, but the other side can still enter from their end.

Say we're the LN fighting off a RM assault.

Ever thought that the Texas gate to NY could be locked remotely? What if the forces in Texas locked the jump gate?

I'm pretty sure the reason you come through above the jump gate is so you don't end up ramming ships on the other side. How would you feel if your little fighter tried to use a jump gate and then BAM, a dread rolls through from the other side and turns you into a fine paste?

Sacrifice a little bit of immersion for gameplay's sake.
