I bought the X-Super box in the Steam sales over christmas and I'm not regretting it. I put many, many hours into Reunion and built up a fleet containing every single Destroyer in the game, along with a HQ and all that jazz. Was fairly epic. The control system in Reunion was horrendous and the game had a steep learning curve - But once you got the hang of it, it wasn't too bad.
What I did was go for the Bankrupt Assassin (No starting credits, but an M3 class fighter) and head to the nearest neutral/pirate sector (Hatikvah's Faith for me) and pirate only Paranid freighters (They're uppity and deserve it). Doesn't take long to build up a nice little fleet of freighter ships, selling for a cool 500k each, more if they're XL's and what not.
From there, I kept on doing combat missions and eventually built a super complex with my earnings. Out of luck, I got the Griffon Sentinel when it was at a ridiculous $14mil (Its now been adjusted to $36mil). Spent about 70 hours in-game purely having fun.
Would definitely recommend Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude, as the interface has been improved greatly and the newest patch (Out today!) has fixed the FPS problem everyone was having.
