I personally think this doesn't reflect reality the slightest.

Just one example:

GMG
Active during 4.84, nearly dead during 4.85, active again in 4.86.

I would blame it on Diamond-Niobium run, lack of activity in Sigmas afterwards and addition of gas mining mechanics in 4.86 rather than on exodus of Japanese players in 4.85 and return in 4.86.
