If I understand and/or remember correctly, there's going to be another update before the final version of 4.86 is released (docking modules still don't work and New Cambira + Anglia still hasn't been added, amongst other things). That's what we're waiting for.
' Wrote:So what's going on then? Isn't 4.86 what we're playing? The wiki is outdated.
I'd dare say most, if not almost all of those pages, are up to date - the notification at the top just means that the information on the page hasn't been verified to be correct in relation to the latest update, so it could be outdated. "This page might need an update to reflect changes introduced in the latest mod version" would perhaps be a more correct and less confusing notification, as we don't know whether the Wiki page the notification actually needs updating or not.
We'll be going over, updating and verifying all of them when the final release of 4.86 is out, as it'll be rather difficult to keep track of what's up to date and not otherwise, as we can't know which pages that may or may not be out of date with the release of each new update. If we didn't do it the way we're doing it now, we'd have to ensure that every one of the (as of 08.05.2012) 2340 wiki pages in Category:Outdated were up-to-date with each and every new beta release, which we don't have the manpower to do. Not that it's necessary either, since as I said - most of those pages haven't changed since the initial beta release of 4.86.
EDIT: TL;DR version: The pages on the Wiki in the Outdated category may or may not need updating, but they do need verification - we're holding back on that until the final version is out so we won't have to look over and verify the information on ~2400 wiki pages multiple times.
