Ships can dock and are shown as docked, I can`t carry them around though. If they undock or get jettisoned they spawn at the point they docked on the carrier.
I'd like to add that upon undocking the player ships enter a noclip mode. However the ships can still flip around other ships. To get rid of this, said ships have to dock on a regular station.
