The Obsidian's are an independent group of Zoner's lead by Colin O'hanna.
Their main goal being to create a safe refuge for their people in an unclaimed system.
History:
The Obsidian Zoetic was originally backed by a secretive charity organization of rich zoners
known as The Council around 817 AS.
Its original intents being to use their wealth to give back to Sirius as a whole by relocating
refugees and setting up relief aid to those in need of it the most.
After the unfortunate bombardment of Toledo by the nomad forces, the OZ realized that their
most important contribution to mankind would be to aid in developing the necessary technology
and resources to fight against the Nomads.
Therefore they contacted the Order and in collaboration they set up a research facility in
Omicron Zeta, an unclaimed system at the border of nomad worlds.
This facility, finished at the beginning of 818 AS, allowed the OZ and their scientists to
observe and study the nomads as well as providing a forward position for nomad remains
to be captured for further study.
Task Force 141 was extremely useful at keeping the nomads at bay. An agreement was
made between OZ and Task force 141, OZ would supply 141 with goods and any useful
technology that could help against the nomads and 141 would provide OZ with nomad samples
and keep the nomads away from the research facility.

[color=#FFFF00][color=#FFCC33]Supply Team - Responsible day to day deliveries and supplying of materials for Obsidian Facilities.
Lead by Bret Allerton who took over most of Alan Captains responsibilities after his unfortunate death.
Security Force - Responsible for the protection and defence of the Obsidian Home System and Obsidian
Facilities. A secondary objective under extreme circumstances is for the department to be
responsible for Nomad sample collection.
Lead by Mathus Rosem who took over from Colin O'hanna after her recent promotion.
[color=#FFCC33]Engineering Team - Responsible for the maintenance of all Obsidian ships as well as construction and
development of new Obsidian ships and facilities.
Lead by Mark Shieldson and currently working on the upgrading of Murilo's Defense grid and the
conversion of a whale into a prototype Fearless Cruiser.
[color=#FFCC33]Research and Development - This department is responsible for researching and developing new
technologies, methods or reverse engineering alien technology so that it can be produced or a problem
solved. The department is divided up into a number of different focus areas; Anti-Nomad Technology,
Cloak Production, Jump Drive research and Terraforming Research.
This department is currently in need of a new Head but is temporarily being headed by Mark Shieldson.
[color=#FFCC33]House Ferries - This departments role is to assist where ever is needed: either independently trading
in house space or assisting other department as a ferry in order to load their Whales whilst inside house
space.
[color=#FFCC33]Transport Liners - This departments is currently in the testing phase, a single Liner has been chartered
to test the viability of it becoming an entire department.
[color=#FFCC33]Nomad Xpress - This department, named after its most common cargo, is a very small department
dedicated to the fast and safe delivery of small but valuable cargos when jumping is not viable.
[color=#FFCC33]Jumping Traders - The revival of the Jumping Zoners after their unfortunate dissolution and is the main
source of profit for the Obsidian's Projects.
[color=#FFCC33]Bases:
[color=#FFFF00][color=#FFCC33]Murilo Mining Facility - Murilo Mining Facility is the Obsidian's most well known base, it was the first
big step that the Obsidian's made in their plans to colonize the system. The Facility has been fully
developed to work as an Automated Atmosphere Tunneling Platform and thus all personnel have been
relocated to other projects. Further work is being done to the Murilo Defense Grid.
Planet Murilo - This planet currently has six hundred people living on the surface, most of which are
engineers and laborers tasked with further colony construction so that more refugees can be safely
brought to the planets surface. In the aim of raising the temperature of the planet OZ are also importing
huge amounts of Terraforming Gasses to the planets surface.
[color=#FFCC33]Star Fortress - This was the second base constructed by the Obsidian's in Omicron Zeta, its role to serve
as a base of operations for their forward fleet. The base now serves as a maintenance center for the
Obsidian's armada of transports aswell as a laboratory facility in which their scientists can conduct
research and develop new ways of tackling both domestic and nomad related problems.
It is to be noted that is station is a shared facility with the Order Taskforce 141 and that despite their
lack of activity the base still holds a reasonable armaments to supply their fighter and capital ships if
they are forced to deploy without being able to first return to an Order base.
[color=#FFCC33]The Aether - This is the Obsidian's most recent project: an attempt to block off the Nomad thread from
Zeta for good. This station is being built in a conjoined effort with a group of AI known as the Binary.
[color=#FFFF00][color=#FFCC33]OZ:HQ-Prometheus - The original Colony ship brought to Omicron Zeta with the Obisidian's
First Refugees. This ship has fallen into many rolls for the Obsidians: It was first used to test the newly
acquired jump technology , then after the Core declared war on the OZ it was readied with armour and
heavy ordinance for war, however, after it proved too in agile and risky to be deployed in battle it was
never used as a combat vessel and now currently has been modified to house the Obsidians Hyperspace
coordinate Scanner.
OZ:HQ-Atlas - This Aquilion was acquired from an independent source out of necessity when it became
apparent that the Prometheus was not suitable for the role of Jumpship. Despite the recent pull out of
the OZ Council the Obsidian's spent an incredible amount of credits to acquire the vessel. It is currently
under the command of Mark Shieldson and responsible for supplying the growing demand of the
Obsidian Colonization project.
[color=#FFCC33]OZ:JZ-Mother.Whale - This ship was left in the care of Obsidian Zoetic during dissolution of the Jumping
Zoners and the OZ are currently setting up a JZ division within OZ specifically for Jump Trading outside
of OZ space both to earn profit and carry out non-Obsidian trade contracts.
