I'm of the opinion that roleplay should happen on-the-fly, and in real-time. As in, in the actual game world. No, I'll never be satisfied with an "RP story", because stories will always go exactly the way that the author wants them too and it removes the option for player interaction. Of course it's already been stated that Harley's ship acquisition did happen in-game, the fact still remains that most don't. Most players don't even write a thread before buying whatever ship, and alot of the ones who do seem to think that all you need to do is write a simple story and then suddenly you can do whatever you want..
That's not roleplay, it's creative writing. There's a difference.
Yes, l'll give you that one, partly. Most people buy the ships before writing the RP, what happens? They get sanctioned. Learning situation there, work for it if you want to keep it.
Though, I don't agree with it should be "On the fly". Sure, ya, you want to do it then cool. How am I supposed to read it again? I doubt every player on the server will all come in to one little system to read the RP, so we use stories. Creative writing? So what? It's a roleplay server, meaning were supposed to be creative. Without creativity, there is no point to roleplay. You'd just get people doing the same thing over and over again.

.. The setting we play in is based entirely off of our modern world. Every faction is derived from the world you and I live in, it's only common sense to look at that for a common "standard."
Ok, it's cool your in the air force and all. But you gotta remember, this is a game, not the air force itself. It's a Space simulator, which you can't really base off real life. Unless of course you can see what human kind will be like in 2000 years.
RParade Wrote:I shouldn't have to read a story to know what your roleplay is about, ideally. That should be happening in-game, not on a forum where everything is static. If that's the case we may aswell go back to singleplayer, 'cause it's the same thing with less effort and alot less complaining.
Static on the forums? ... No, that would be the other way around when you're trying to roleplay in game and get the constant "Lawls!","What are you doing?", and "PvP?". Yes, lots of RP does happen in game, we play the characters like how they're written, how they speak in the stories, yes it happens in game as well. Don't want to read the stories? Fine, your own choice, not like we can force you. Just know, it isn't going to change. If you wish to know what's going on while you see a few roleplaying in game, then reading the stories is the best way to find out.
