What happened? Am I being punished?

My character Scornstar was lost today after server crash and replaced with the old one I deleted. This poses a problem as all my reps and RP standing are skewd so for from the story I have been writing that these are now unplayable. :( I'd like to have MY most current character back please or some explination of what happened since as far as I know I've done nothing wrong. I put alot of time into my character and would like him back, as I erased these two I now have on purpose and my current one was one that didnt get complaint from the community. Please assist, or advise.
