Let me respond to your series of short, unsubstantiated statements with a few of mine, similarly unbacked by any evidence and expected to be believed straight away: Hessians are not barely holding on for resources - they outnumber Corsairs in Omega systems and have a good income, Order Osiris balance has nothing to do with the lore but more to do with the fact that the ship itself was just far too strong - now it isn't (but yes maybe it will get some kind of buff, meanwhile the rest of the Order ships are more than fine), Zoner ships are meant to be colony ships not warships hence they suck at fighting, independent pirates are fine as they are. Transports would be mostly fine were it not for cloaking pirates, and this will be fixed soon.
The statement that "woe be upon the players for they are getting screwed over" is probably older than my registration date on this forum. Different people who can't be bothered to log to get their factions active blame their own failures on the devs/admins, and offer nothing constructive in any thread like this except their apocalyptic wailing about how bad they have. And that's the truth of it.
Meanwhile, official factions that care about their lore instead of crying about it submitted their suggestions, and all of them were reviewed by dev team and most will be included. So can we end these lies already?
Blodo, arent you the one who thought it was a good idea with the hessians having a battleship of all things? They have, what, 4 bases? 5?
Also, zoners DO get in fights. theres a reason they are able to maintain their neutrality instead of being forcibly assimilated into one or the other force.
Making a ship the size of the nephelim (the 2nd largest, including the barge) have hilariously bad defences (because its a colony ship) is a stupid escuse. If anything a colony ship would be much slower to maneuver but be BRISTLING with defences to protect the lives within. the blindspots on it instead are big enough to park a BATTLECRUISER in safely. There is reduced combat ability then there is hopeless. This falls under hopeless and stupid artifical arc restrictions for no real reason other than some misconceived notion that zoners don't get into fights. Somthing which is proved wrong time and time again, like clockwork.
By that logic, since pirate tech is mostly slapped together, hessian guns should break after firing a number of shots. their ships should not be as fast or break down. they should cost more since they would not be as efficent as high-tech military stuff.
And then theres transports. You say its fine now. a single cruiser cerb has the same firepower as 12 type 3 transport turrets. That means in order to have the same damage output you need FOUR battletransports for one heavy cruiser. The odds of them winning are quite low due to the armor difference even 4 on 1.
You accuse me of not being able to keep faction activity up. Well, yes. Tell me what a house corp now offers in rheinland that a indie corp pilot does not get, or even a pirate.
The hessians get the same size ships usable, plus cruisers and battleships with no tech nerf.
Repex gets a nerf on any military tech. Leaving eagles and whatnot for us to use as defence ships. (hint, it doesent work that great vs hessian stuff)
So tell me blodo? How is any faction put in this position going to possibly have a benefit? Hessians can now trade with bretonia. With routes the same as ours in profit. They have a full shipline.
the reason many corporate factions have activity problems is simple: Theres no reason to do it anymore. Pirates in the edge worlds can get just as much if not more profit than a corporate trader. PLUS has acess to big guns should he need them.
A full on convoy should not be wiped out by a single player without much effort. That is the current state of things however. I would say having to choose between navy or pirate in order to actually stand a chance is seriously detrimental to a roleplaying server.
