TLDR something about making bases weaker. No. Terrible idea. Believe it or not people can't defend when they are sleeping, they need to know their VERY EXPENSIVE AND TIME CONSUMING investment doesn't get scrubbed from space in a couple hours because their enemy decided to pull an all-nighter.
My recommendation would be allow factions and base owners to organise battles for the destruction/safety of the base.
