I had this cool idea for a Piracy event, in order to encourage more Piracy over a set period of time. It's still in the brainstorming process, so I'm not sure if all my ideas would fit together, so I'm hoping I could get some feedback as to how this could work.
To make this easier to understand and break down, I'm going to have a little key: Statements in yellow are ideas I am unsure about, which could use feedback.
You are free to critize and praise any part of this post you want however.
Anyway, here's a summary:
Pirateking is an event over a set period of time to deem who in DiscoveryGC is the best pirate. The best pirate would have the qualities of being able to steal indecently decent amounts of wealth from other players. The best pirate would be one who can either run or fight his way out of sticky situations. The best pirate would be someone who remembers to roleplay whilst having their role as pirate, to actually interact with the server rather than being a self-inclosed money hog. Players would sign up to Pirateking as an individual Pirate. (I am thinking of going for either this or): Pirate groups would sign up to Pirateking. Groups can be done as unoffical factions, offical factions etc. They must be represented with a tag. Groups are allowed a maximum of 5 players per group.
Any ID can sign up as long as they have 'Can demand credits/cargo' on their ID and are Unlawful.
The objective of Pirateking is for the player/group to collect as many points as possible within the time period (I'm not really sure what it could be. One week perhaps?).
Players/Groups start out with new characters. The Player/Group is allowed to start off with a maximum/[u] of 50,000,000 credits to buy ships, equipment etc. After that point, the characters are [u]closed economy. This means that anything else they wish to fund can can only be done with money they collect from the point the event starts. Any leftover money from the character creation that is present at the beginning of the event can go towards points for the player/group.
Once the player/group has made their character(s) and the event starts, they must collect points over the time period. This can be done in various ways (using the modifiers too):
1 point is gained for each 1,000,000 pirated from a target. 0.1 points are gained for each 100,000. So if at the end of the time period ALR|Tyrone.Skyes[F] had pirated 69,690,000 he would gain 69.69 points that would go towards his final total. Credits that are either 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 significant figures are not counted. Credits gained from cargo piracy are counted as normal points, so if I gained 34,000,000 for selling pirated ore at x base, that would count as 34 points. On top of the points that can be accumalated for credits pirated, there are modifiers in place:
-Pirating traders is worth 1 point, pirating snubs is worth 3 points, pirating gunboats or larger is worth 5 points
-Sucessfully pirating compettitors is worth 10 points (Other people in the compettition)
-If you gain a Kudos, for decent RP n' whatnot, you gain 5 points (The community will be urged
Closed economy characters can buy whatever they want for that character, but only with money made from pirating (Like I had to do with my first Scylla :'(). We/I will be able to tell if they have draw cash in, as the totals of money they have made which will be indicated by their screenshots will not cohere with the cash they have drawn.
I think that breaks down everything in the Summary. The rules would be as follows:
-Players/Groups are allowed to start off with 50,000,000 for their character/group. That is all the money they can use to start off, from then on it's closed economy characters ^^
-Players/Groups compete to gain the most points over a [One week, or 4 week period with rounds?] -Players/Groups can fight for turf with compettitors. People pirating on your ground will effect the amount of money you have, so you might want to eliminate the compettition (Not so sure about this. It would be awesome to have it but not every ID can engage the other. E.g you can't have Rogues shooting Hackers. Perhaps just the Independant Pirate ID will be used for the compettition?)
-Players/Groups will sumbit screens and scans of each ship they pirate. If they kill another compettitor, they need to screenshot it.
These two rules are both the same, but slighty different depending on if the event only lasts one week. Here's the first one:
At the end of the week, the money and ships pirated will be converted to points (as observed by the screenshots) and the player/group with the highest points win.
And here's if it lasted more than a week, say 4 weeks, each one being a round:
-At the end of the first week, the total money left (Players would've spent some of what they've pirated on repairs, armor, equipment, ship upgrades etc.) will be depositied into a bank and converted to points (the point total will include the ships they pirate, of course).
-At the beginning of the next week/round, players can choose to draw cash from that bank if they wish. Removing money deducts points from their score however. For example: ALR|Tyrone.Skyes[F] has 145 points (100,000,000 pirated from 40 traders and 1 GB/Cap). He chooses to draw out 50,000,000 to get a ship upgrade; a gunboat. His score stays the same, but at the end of Pirateking, 50 points will be deducted from his final score.
-At the end of the final week/round, the total points Tyrone collected throughout Pirateking become his score. So say he got 145 in the first week, 60 in the next, 200 in the one after and 20 in the last, his total score is 425 points, However, remember that gunboat he upgraded to? So we'll deduct 50 points from that final score, giving 375 points. Tyrone final score is 375 points.
"But Lyth, what's the point in this event? What's the prize?" You cry.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, the prize is a special prize. A prize of immense bragging and wealth:
You gain the title of Pirateking.
...Ok, that might not be that great. So how about the winner(s) get to keep all the money they made, aswell as all the money their compettitors made (every position but 2nd and 3rd)? That could amount to a hell load of money.
Second place could get to keep 100% of what they made. Third place could get to keep 50% of what they made.
Feedback is GREATLY appreciated. I am sure there are some errors here and I would really love it if people point them out and help me improve upon this idea so this event could be as fun as possible for everyone. I would LOVE some suggestions too!
P.S Ofc, this will be done after the rollback.
