i think you don't get the point here
The argument is not (!) that skill shouldn't be rewarded - but as far as i remember disco tries desperately to get some fresh blood in - and yes disco has quite the steep and long learning courve...which very much might shy away the casual gamer aka the bread and butter gamer, those that add up the population of the server. You have to ask yourself how much it is worth to showcase your uberskills if the result is that the time until there is no one to show em off at is around.
Or if you don't like the example of not milking a cow dry - try this one:
Battleships. Starting with three bombers they get exponentially easier to kill, to a point where you just mow them down like nothing ...maybe 6 bombers? Now why is it that these ships, the pride of sirius is killed so easy? It is because one single player should not pin down the activity of so many, plain and simple - one guy shall not hog the attention of 6 others. Well, from battleships you can run as they can't stop you - but a fighter that newbies can't kill - well, this guy will pin their attention down for as long as he wants. They can't run - or if they do the "die" and get denied what they originally wanted to do. Long story short, one guy should pay the price of hoggin multiple others attention - thus if you hit the hornets nest you either run away early or get shot down like you deserved anyways.
