Sorry guys, I know I kept telling everyone that I'll be finalizing fighter gun stats for update 5, but I seriously don't feel like doing it so I might just postpone it for update 6. Though, since update 6 might not even exist, that means there's no certainty in me actually bothering to fix balance instead of wasting my dev time on pointless eye-candy stuff, which now that I think about it, is what I should've done from day 1 rather than getting involved in balance, cause you see, balance actually needs brain and that, obviously, I don't have.
But that aside, unless something goes horribly wrong, what you'll be getting with update 5 instead of proper balance includes, but is not limited to:
» Return of the player bases: The plugin is fixed and with a few adjustments it'll also cause less lag for the server. Additionally, thanks to a few enhancements made by our resident FLHooker, POBs will also support a hostile tag list, working similar to the green list they already had. We'll also be posting a notice 1 week in advance before turning the POBs back on.
» Proper icons for... well, everything: Ship icons for non-vanilla ships are redone and now use the wiki renders for a unified look. This also includes the 4.87 models, but since those ships don't currently have a high quality render on wiki, their icons will be redone whenever a proper render is uploaded for them. Should work more of less fine for now though.
» Engine change plugin included for snubcraft: Yes, this is pretty much what you think it is. Thanks to another one of Adoxa's shiny plugins, engines are buyable equipments now, and you can pretty much dock a station and buy a different engine for your ship. Due to certain limitations, it's currently only limited to snubcrafts, but I guess that's still better than nothing. Also, I doubt the final version of the new tech plugin makes it into update 5, but whenever that one's ready, engines will be included as part of the tech categories to stop idiocies like mounting Rheinland engines on a Guardian and whatnot.
» Release Date: Within 2 years. I promise.
Yes, this is flood. No, this is a serious post. Except for the first paragraph, maybe.
