Do you know what the maximum range on the gate is?
Around 5k range for the pulses.
The lane is around 2,5k from the gate.
It means you'd need to sit around 3k from the lane ring.
And the NPCs sometimes battle with hostile NPCs. The Texas gate is a good example for that. OCs versus the locals, spamming mines everywhere.
