So I was idling on skype the other day, since my net was buggy as hell and one of my contacts dropped this in one of the chats:
The question here revolves around a very specific moment we need to consider, before we try to answer it or even formulate it.
Just how serious Discovery Freelancer is, when it comes to Roleplay and the depth of roleplay?
I've personally brought 4 people into Disco, all of which are seasoned roleplayers and have years of RP experience under their belts in various forum and chat based RPs. Needless to say, I think only one of them still remains, but two of them did end up leaving, because the quality and, note, the attitude towards RP on Disco was lacking.
Was that elitist? Sure. But a roleplayer has their own standards and if they are not fulfilled, then they simply, as many of you have told such people before, move on to greener fields.
So my question is simple, just how seriously we treat RP these days? By that, I mean our own RP and the RP of other members, be they new or old. If you sit in the Disco TS a lot, you might get a good idea of what I am referring to, especially when faction leaders join in sometimes.
My second question is even more fun. Just what sort of players we target with Disco? Surely not hardcore RPers due to above mentioned examples. And we tend to look down on people, who join for the sake of just playing the game.
You join to have fun during raids, you are a lesser person. You do serious RP and people think you are trying too hard.
Where's the balance?
TLR
We treat RP seriously only when it is beneficial to us.
Other times, the elite just laughs at the people, who do not know better.
