I'm against this one, sorry Pavel. I know that travel time can be a kick in the teeth, but I'm rather against characters being able to vanish and reappear elsewhere without the possibility of interaction along the way. I don't want to see spontaneous RP become something that only happens to traders. Besides, if your friend and his buddies can insta-beam to a base in-system, there's no real threat in being out in deep dark space all by yourself. I can see the use for a faction like the nomads who aren't tied to physical bodies like people are, but I don't like the idea of human pilots jumping a few systems ahead because a friend's in trouble. There's no suspense in holding out for reinforcements if said reinforcements can be there inside a minute.
If travel time is the problem here, than I think there are other ways to reduce that (reduction of system size, or number thereof) with less potential for abuse. That's not to say there wouldn't be an absolute tonne of work involved in doing it.
