Why would someone drown dozens if not hundreds of million into beaming from one base to another to get convoy, while for a much cheaper price he can make local pirate chars, save powertrading time and just go on with said griefing? I don't see many incidents nowadays anyway.
Of course there can be cooldown time limit on how many times player is allowed to beam at all, we can raise basic fee, but honestly I don't think it would be abused at price of hundreds of millions, ore shipments included, if griefers don't do the same thing right now, simply by making many pirate chars, what's also cheaper.
@ muh ooRP, muh abuse
Conn is ooRP. Or PvP balance. Or many factions getting own shiplines with caps included although they should not.
It's gameplay improvement proposal, it wouldn't be explained inRP.
"Problem" with Conn is our server is way too big for ~200 more or less active players in this community. People go to Conn because this is space shooter, they want pew, and it's far easier to find combat there instead of in one of many empty systems in inRP environment. I don't think Conn is a bad thing, it's sort of PvP server inside our RP one, and that is good thing, there are people who don't like RP but like to PvP, and they add to our server's activity just as roleplayers do.
Now, if people except fighting in Conn had alternative of organising and finding activity outside of virtual system with equal ease...
- more convoys
- more raids
- high cost of the command generates more trading
- this is convenience thing, not everybody has 20+ B on his accounts. Somehow griefers don't make dozens of chars now at a cheaper price than extensive command use in short time, which would cost hundreds of million of credits. Assuming basic fee is 3M, jumping 5 times before cooldown time passes costs 243M. That's 8 fully equipped Grie-4R Light Bombers docked alongside ore trade routes... I don't see much abuse in it if privilege of having many chars which FLAM gives isn't abused now. OoRP haters (the true ones) with many ships eventually get banned anyway.
- I don't think with piracy being more or less dead in general that traders need to be afraid of that command, especially with costs going up exponentially.
