Another cons point: Base sieges. I think many would e.g. hate it when the Gamma/Alpha/Liberty cap population would suddenly "pop" out of nowhere to come down on a base. The process of moving forces into position and building up your strategy (and giving defenders time to react and build their own defenses) is part of the game.
