This is what feedback threads are about, positive or negative. Even if it's abrasive and demeaning, reading between the lines is important. There's a reason for every comment. Even dumb one sentence troll posts reflect real attitudes from the community that you've got to consider. Copying the [HF] information verbatim and posting it was a mistake and the faction members have every right to be upset. Even if they aren't official and don't have the faction rights, [HF] also reside in Vespucci and are well established - even moreso because they're responsible for developing the faction in the first place. Denying their existence is foolish. I can't speak for them, but I think even a bit of RP competition would be welcome as long as there was an OORP understanding, but that's already turned ugly.
Also, whether you feel you're truly starting anew or not, your faction is associated with [ZA] and a lot of people are skeptical - that's reality. A base right next to a jump hole, especially with no RP or discussion with the other residents of the system, doesn't help. People are already waiting for declarations of sovereign rights to bases, closing off the system, claims to being the "one true" Legionnaires, and swarms of capital ships across the server should you manage to get official status. It's time to rebrand in earnest.
Fortunately, it looks like you've managed thus far to be the only voice representing the faction. The next step is understanding that it's not always necessary to get the last word in and react to every jab. I think 99% of the time, it's best to treat feedback threads like an inbox only with responses kept to an absolute minimum. Scrambling to write a defense just invites more attacks. I usually think trying to apply real life examples to game discussions is dumb, but you might want to take some time to see how successful organizations handle scandals, unpopular members, and all-around bad publicity.
