Okay, so after I made a thread on the same subject in Flood, which allowed people to vent a bit, I figured this actually warrants serious discussion as well.
The background: A base in Kyushu was declared illegal and KNF invited both Rheinland and Gallic military forces to assist with the siege.
The foreign military forces were then expelled by the almighty console.
Problem here is, the KNF doesn't have the forces necessary to mount a siege on their own. You need 8 heavy battleships to even counter repairs against a Core 3 base, and 9 to destroy it in a realistic timeframe.
KNF doesn't have 8 people that can log battleships, and neither do most other factions.
So the question is: Is it good for gameplay, good for roleplay, to invite allies for a siege in such situations? Personally, I'd say it is. Not just because it makes sense for houses (or other entities) to support others that they have good relations with, but also for the far more simple gameplay reason that very few factions can muster the force to take out bases on their own.
Edit: This is separate, though related, from the issue of base survivability in general, and infinite refire cerb weapon platforms.
