Most of wot occurred here was based on in-game consequence of Kusari Foreign Policy and interestingly conflicted Laws, it was relevant and evolved over a period of time which is the kind of thing you want happening around the server.
I like that there was a combined op. It was controversial, and done kinda quickly, but things can always have been done more cleanly, that's how it goes every time.
That said, my idea for a way to take greater interest in the Roleplay aspect of these POB seiges people keep crying about would be to have a day or two of Roleplay "preparing/assembling a siege". Posting ship movements [especially outside/ooRPish ships] of consequential vessels involved, entertaining threats, or even easily including the necessary RP/warnings for the attack request. The passage of time would enhance the validity of a large or diverse group, but more importantly allow the POB owners [who work alot to build] a chance to defend properly.
I'm talking about a chance to play the game (organize a defense group to fight), not a chance to overstash supply (tho any serious base should be... supplied anyway). While i realize the line may blur slightly there, no idea is ever perfect, the interest in mind here would be a chance for people to have good large-scale interactions on our smallish server. I know the regret that some Pilots expressed in regards to this last siege was not having the opportunity to have a real battle outside the station, regardless of result. In fact, defending forces wouldve certainly lost against such a great group, but it'd have been fon. From the other side, id say most certainly that having Military ships from outside Houses [on an collaborative attack or operation] is a perfect opportunity for some easy posted roleplay. Mentioning ship movements and battles that go on should be a mainstay of our forum/news RP besides the stories.
Its fun to just have good events and major battles regardless of outcome. I think the debate regarding POB attacks lately like: how long should the warning be, who can be involved, how quick can things be done etc.. is a bare-bones perspective. If POB attacks were to be addressed as 'opportunities for posting News/Roleplay/Free-For-All-of-Fun-IfSoBeIt' we might have far less of a problem with them in the future, and they may become lively events instead of burdens.
