The Following is a brief summary of Ellie's life so far
---------------- Origins ----------------
In the year 797 A.S., Ellie Fischer was born. Her mother, Katharina Fischer, was a Law Firm Administrator and was able to afford a luxurious apartment overlooking the shimmering oceans of Planet Baden Baden. However, Ellie's mother was always out working or attending social events and the two never really spent much time together. When Ellie's father had found out about her mother's pregnancy, he packed his belongings and left without a trace. As a result she knows nothing about her father, and is too uncomfortable to bring up the subject with her mother. The maid of their apartment, Alice Roth, was Ellie's primary care giver and found out that Ellie was very intelligent for her age. She decided to nurture this intelligence by providing Ellie with many educational books and a musical instrument of her choice. After this, Ellie began spending her days avidly reading about the worlds of science and mathematics and learning how to play her chosen instrument, the piano. A few weeks before Ellie's 7th birthday, and her first day of school, her mother was traveling back from a party in New Berlin. As the Democritus exited the trade lane and approached the Stuttgart Jump Gate, they were stopped by group of three Red Hessian bombers. The group leader demanded 10 million credits from the ship's captain, and he wired them over without hesitation. After the captain had rebooted the engines and approached the jump gate, the bomber group opened fire onto the yacht. The ship's shield and hull was no match for the incoming bombardment of Nova Torpedoes and a fiery explosion destroyed the ship as the Hessian bombers cruised off into the distance. There were no survivors.
---------------- Years of Study ----------------
Ellie was distraught when she found out the horrible news, but since she had no family, the next day she and her belongings were shipped over to a boarding school on Planet New Berlin. Due to her heightened intelligence, Ellie excelled at school topping all of her classes. The other students discriminated her because of this and throughout her school years she didn't have many friends. She wasn't really bothered by this as she got far more enjoyment staying in her room, studying and playing piano than going out to parties or hanging out with fellow students. After 8 years of school, Ellie was the youngest person to receive the Heisenberg Scholarship and was granted 10,000 Credits and an entrance to the University of her choosing. She choose to do a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at New Berlin's very prestigious, Röntgen-Hertz Universität. Four years later, at the age of 18, Ellie passed her Degree with honors and received the award for top academic female student.
---------------- Oder Shipyard ----------------
A few weeks after passing her Degree, she was contacted by the manager of Oder Shipyard who offered her a job and a low cost living arrangement. She accepted the offer and began working on the station the very next day. She was placed in the Commercial Ship Division and spent six months on the production line, building Rheinland Transports and Freighters. Her boss picked up on her skill levels and she was promoted to the Warship Service Team, a highly qualified group of engineers specializing in the maintaining and repairing of Rheinland Military's Capital Fleet. For the remainder of that year she worked on many gunboats and a few cruisers, but the her highlight would definitely be the time she flew down to Battleship Strausberg to help repair the damage from a recently failed Red Hessian attack. She was fascinated by the vastness of the craft and thoroughly enjoyed the four days she spent there repairing structural damage to the engine block and replacing various weapon turrets.
---------------- Meeting a Freelancer ----------------
Towards the end of the year, Ellie was rewarded for her hard work with a large bonus and a two week holiday. The following night she was sitting in the Oder Shipyard Bar, sipping a cold glass of Rheinbier. She had finished looking through her repair logs and was now gazing out into space. Ellie was then approached by a man who introduced himself as Brad Abrams. He explained that he was a Freelancer who made a living by piloting a Serenity, buying and selling various commodities as he made his way through Sirius. Brad told Ellie that he had just sold a cargo load full of Cryocubes and was planning to stay a couple of nights before making his way up into Kusari to see and old friend who owed him credits. He sat down on the seat opposite her, took a long swig of his glass and placed it down on the table with a loud clunk. Brad explained how he had been talking with the Barman, and had learnt about her reputable skills as an Engineer and Mechanic, telling Ellie that he could use a person like her abort his ship. He proposed that if she would accompany him on his journeys through Sirius, making repairs to his ship when necessary, that in return, he would provide her with 30 percent of the profit he made from trading. Ellie did a couple of calculations in her head, estimating the amount of money she could earn by doing this, and realized it would be slightly less than what she was making in her current employment. She thought about it and felt that after 12 years of studying and one year of employment, she longed to venture out and experience the wonders of new places in foreign space. Ellie agreed to travel with Brad and his small crew in his Serenity which he had nicknamed, The Adventurer. Brad was delighted, and insisted they go celebrate with a round of drinks with his crew. Ellie indicated to him that she was tired and had consumed enough alcohol for one night, but she would love to meet his crew the following morning over breakfast. Brad completely understood, thanked Ellie, and went off to join his crew. As Ellie made her way through the corridors to her sleeping quarters, she thought about the adventures that awaited her in the coming months.
---------------- The Crew ----------------
The next day Ellie awoke early in the anticipation of meeting Brad's crew. She made her way down to the docking bay and met up with Brad, who invited her to have breakfast aboard his ship. She was then introduced to the people, who she would be accompanying for the following months. Firstly, there was Belle Sowards. Belle grew up on Planet Manhattan and was working as a barmaid when Brad had me up with her. She was the ships navigator and was in charge of directing the ship through dangerous areas, such as asteroid fields and radioactive nebulae. Secondly, she was introduced to Marco Vancura. He was a childhood friend of Brad's and was in charge of the ships weapon system. Since Brad was neutral to most of the pirate groups, the ships weapons were rarely used, and Marco was just a fun guy to have on board. Lastly, there was Keira Hanley. Keira was from Planet New London, and was in charge of keeping the crew happy. Her day to day tasks included providing meals, cleaning the ship and purchasing necessary supplies from stations. All the crew seemed like a great bunch of people and Ellie was very happy she was joining them. After breakfast, Brad gave Ellie a quick tour of the vessel and showed her the sleeping quarters and her workstation. The facilities weren't exactly the last word in luxury and the tools she was provided with were not of the same quality she had been using for the past year. But she was able to look past this and was thoroughly looking forward to heading out into space. After the tour, the crew helped Ellie load her belongings into the cargo hold of the ship and Ellie decided to go pay her boss a visit. She told him that she had enjoyed working at the shipyard, but she needed some adventure her life. Although he was sad to see her go, he completely understood and wished her good luck for the journey she was about to embark on.
---------------- To Kusari and Beyond ----------------
The next day, after Brad's ship had been resupplied, and Ellie had completed prelaunch checks, the Serenity unlocked from Oder Shipyard and headed towards the Frankfurt jump gate. After having travelled through Sigma 13 and into Kusari, they headed towards Planet Junyo. The large oceans of Junyo reminded Ellie of the oceans on Baden Baden, and she began to develop a feeling of nostalgia as the ship cruised through the skies towards the Ishizuki Plateau. The Adventurer touched down on the landing pad, and the crew went off to find Brad's old friend, while Ellie carried out maintenance on the ship. After Brad has collected his credits he fired up the engines and cruised off into space. It was a short, uneventful journey to Planet New Tokyo where Brad purchased a load full of Sake, from there they headed up into Gallia. For the next five and a half months Ellie and the crew travelled all over Sirius, buying and selling cargo as they went. Brad even let Ellie pilot the ship on some occasions, and experience that she enjoyed very much.
---------------- Endings and Beginnings ----------------
In mid-July 817 A.S. The Adventurer touched down on Planet New Berlin, after Ellie's belongings were unloaded and she had received her credits, she said her goodbyes to the crew. It was quite a sad day, as the five of them had become really good friends, but Ellie had decided that she wanted to pilot her own ship. After many hours at the helm of Brad's Serenity, Ellie had developed a passion for piloting cargo ships and was keen to buy one of her own. She had earned a decent amount of credits and had managed to purchase a small apartment, and was quite keen about buying a Humpback to use for small trade routes throughout Rheinland. A few days later, after she had settled in, she traveled down to Bonn station to test fly a Humpback. On her test flight she witnessed huge Rheinland transports cruising through space. She realized that she would love to be the pilot of one of these vessels, but she knew that ordinary civilians were not allowed to buy ships of this size. After some research into Rheinalnd Trading Corporations, she decided that she would apply to become an employee of Krüger Mineralien.
From January 804 A.S. to December 811 A.S. Ellie attended boarding school on Planet New Berlin. Through these years the subjects she took were mathematics, physics, computing, music and cooking.
From January 812 A.S. to December 815 A.S. Ellie studied Mechanical Engineering at the Röntgen-Hertz Universität on Planet New Berlin. She passed her class with honours and won an award for top academic female student.
From January 816 A.S. to mid July 816 A.S. Ellie worked on Oder shipyard building transport and freighter ships. These ships were the Humpback, Behemoth and the Uruz.
From mid July 816 A.S. to December 816 A.S. Ellie was promoted into the Warship Service Team. She was part of a group of highly qualified engineers responsible for the repair and maintaining of Rheinland Warships. She mostly worked on Gunboats and Cruisers, but she once traveled to Battleship Strausberg to carry out repairs.
From late December to 816 A.S. to mid July 817 A.S. Ellie was the engineer aboard The Adventurer, a Serenity owned by Freelancer, Brad Abrams.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Why do you want to join Krüger Mineralien and what do you expect from the company:
Ellie wants to join Krüger Mineralien's Transportation Fleet because she has a passion for flying large cargo vessels, and she wants to positively contribute to Rheinland's economy. She believes that she can help expand Krüger's mining operations by providing extra funds to the company. Ellie is not wanting to join Krüger solely for a wage, and because of this, she will be putting most of the money she earns from trading straight back into the company. She also believes that she will be able to work alongside Krüger Mineralien's Engineers to help develop new mining equipment and to carry out repairs on damaged ships. Ellie hopes to work her way up through the ranks and one day be the pilot of a large transport vessel, such a Uruz or Colossus. She would like to express her sincere gratitude for taking the time to look over her application form.
