Apart from the irony of Tal talking about ingame immersion, I don't entirely disagree with the concern raised. Jokes are alright every now and again and help lighten the mood, but people making the jokes have to consider when a joke gets old, and simply stop before it reaches that point*. Examples mentioned in this thread already like Dogecoins, Blodo Diamonds or changing conn command to "sparta" are all good examples of jokes that were alright at the very beginning but with rather short half-life (for lack of a better word), and yet they've been sitting there for ages now. It was there for a day, people linked screenshots of it in Skype chats and had a laugh, then it stayed there for a week, a month, and I don't even know how long it's been now since those tweaks were tossed in. Now the same people who chuckled at the joke back then are the ones starting to get annoyed, and they have every right to be. Now if those changes had stayed there for a day or two and then pulled off the server? Everything would've went back to normal and people would've just remembered the laugh, not the nuisance.
tl;dr - Jokes are cool, people laugh, but know when they start to get old. Don't be the guy who goes around for months and keeps telling the same joke (note the lack of S) to the same people.
* This does not only apply to "official" jokes like the abovementioned tweaks, but applies to the average flood/skype jokes that are dragged out of that stinkin hole at the very bottom of the community and thrown around for months as well.
