•Corsair Raiding Party - HOSTILE Wiped out by allied forces. Approximate strength was one battleship-class vessel, one gunboat-class vessel, and a snubcraft support wing. •Rheinland Federal Forces - HOSTILE Attempted to mount a 'cleanup' operation after the Corsairs were dispatched by our forces. Allied forces fled successfully into the Sudnebel.
Having received a distress call from Oberst Klugmann through the Bruchsal comms relay, I rushed to my Switchblade in order to assist. On the way to the hangar bay, I found that Aktivist Bielski had also heard the call, and was scrambling her bomber in order to cover a potential capital ship threat.
Therefore, the two of us launched from Bruchsal and were hastily patched into secure communications - mostly dominated by Hessian forces that were already mounting a counteroffensive. Still, we proceeded to Erich's last known location - halfway between Mannheim and Mainz, at the midpoint of the lane connection. Upon arriving, we found the Corsairs already assaulting allied forces, and were immediately engaged upon arrival. A small detachment of Federal forces watched on - inactive for now.
Following that, everything is a little chaotic. I engaged the enemy to the best of my ability - putting that Bundespolizei basic training to good work, I can assure you - and assisted friendly forces in repelling the incursion. Unfortunately, at some point during the skirmish Iliza's Cutlass came under heavy fire by an entire Corsair fighter wing, and she was forced to eject. The ship itself was destroyed completely by weapons fire. However, our forces struck a great blow in response, and the entire Corsair task force was eliminated.
It was at this point that the Federals decided to leap into action. Galvanized to strike - now that our forces were weakened from having fought the Corsairs - they moved in to, well - either kill or apprehend us. I didn't hang around to find out which. In any case, Oberst Klugmann ordered a general retreat - having scooped Iliza's pod up, of course - and we fled into the Sudnebel. Unfortunately, I saw no allied forces following our lead - it is possible that the rest of the Hessian response force was destroyed or disabled by the Federals.
Following that, the three of us laid low at Zwickau for a suitable period of time before making the trip back to Bruchsal as stealthily as we could. Thankfully, it appeared we had waited long enough for the Federal presence in the system to disperse, as we crossed Frankfurt without further incident.
Ship telemetry follows:
A further incident followed this battle, but I believe there are others who would be able to make a more detailed report - therefore, I have left it to them. Suffice to say, however, that Frankfurt is not as free of enemies as we might have hoped.
